大塚というとどうしても豊島区の大塚を思い出してしまうが、こちらは埼玉県川越の近くの南大塚という駅。
この日は某乳業メーカーの研究所を仕事で訪ねた。
無事商談を終え、さて、ランチタイム。
予め食べログでこのお店をチェックしていた。
こんなところにガチのスリランカレストランがあるとは驚き。
店はダイニングバーといった感じ。
スリランカ人の青年がワンオペでやっていた。
先客はカウンターで煙草をくゆらせる、自称スナックのママ（80歳超え）一人だがカレーは食べていない。
副菜が色々付くチキンカレーセットを注文。
最初に何の変哲もないサラダと、何故かわかめスープ。
これは日本人のランチにはつきものだと誰かに吹聴されたせいだろう。
やがて、ライスが盛られた皿が来て、パリップ＝豆カレー、チキンカレー、その他オカズと8皿、全部別で登場。
洗い物が増えるし、最初から載せちゃっていいのにな。
速攻、セルフでワンプレートに仕立て、手食。
いや、めっちゃうまいやん。
カラピンチャ＝カレーリーフ、ローストツナパハ、モルディブフィッシュとしっかりとしたスリランカカレー。
ちょっと、辛さが足りないけど、それでも食べ進めるとじんわりと汗をかく。
都内にあったら普通に人気の出るレベルのスリランカカレーである。
それをまさか南大塚という何もない平和な駅で食べられるとは（意外と西武新宿線で新宿から乗り換えなしで1時間未満で来れるのね）。
色々と聞きたかったけど、英語、日本語ともにあんまり出来なくて諦めた。
長く続いてほしいが、果たしてこの土地でやっていけるだろうか。
