Harry Kane's future is once again the hot topic of conversation after Tottenham succumbed to defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.
The England captain was powerless to prevent the loss for his side as they were outplayed by the Red Devils in north London.
The result has prompted a host of pundits to suggest that the striker should look for a summer exit in order to fulfil his ambitions to win trophies.
talkSPORT co-host Danny Murphy was one of them, declaring the 28-year-old will win nothing at Spurs if he stays there.
"I don’t know a person who says he’s desperate to leave but I’ve seen he’s spoken in the past that he wants to win things – he won’t win anything there," Murphy told talkSPORT.
Jamie O'Hara, meanwhile, suggested Spurs should consider cashing in on their most prized asset in order to rebuild their squad.
“As a Spurs fan obviously you don’t want Harry Kane to ever leave the football club,” he said on Monday’s talkSPORT Breakfast.
“But if he is going to leave and you’re outside the top-four… there NEEDS to be a rebuild there.
“The club is a joke at the minute, the players are not good enough, no desire, no heart.
“You look at Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Erik Lamela, Davison Sanchez, Eric Dier… we could raise £200million here and build a new team."
Kane, who has scored a staggering 217 goals in 329 appearances for Spurs, will reportedly look to leave his boyhood club if they fail to secure a Premier League top-four finish and qualify for the Champions League.
United, among a host of top European clubs, have been linked with a move to sign Kane, while their rivals Man City have also been sounded out as a potential destination for the England captain.
And last month, Watford striker Troy Deeney told talkSPORT that Man United may be a move that suits Kane.
He said: “For me, he’s one of the best around and best in the business. Also the assists now makes him more attractive to say a Man City as he can link the play as well.
“If he went to Man City, would that suit his game? Probably not. I think a Man United suits him well, but it’s going to cost a lot of money.”
It is understood Kane would prefer a move to the red side of Manchester, but if he wants to win trophies, recent history suggests he'd be better of joining City or Chelsea.
From the decade of 2010-2020, Chelsea won more than any other club in English football, having scooped 11 major trophies thanks to Roman Abramovich's lucrative investment.
City fell just short of top spot with ten major trophies in that time, but they added another EFL cup to their growing trophy cabinet last year.
Most successful English clubs from 2010-2020
1. Chelsea: 11 major trophies (3x Premier Leagues, 4x FA Cups, 2x Europa Leagues, 1x Champions League and 1x League Cup)
2. Manchester City: 10 major trophies (4x Premier Leagues, 4x League Cups and 2x FA Cups)
3. Manchester United: six major trophies (2x Premier Leagues, 2x League Cups, 1x FA Cup and 1x Europa League)
4. Arsenal: three major trophies (3x FA Cups)
5. Liverpool: two major trophies (1x Champions League and 1x League Cup)
United won just six major trophies in that decade in comparison, while Liverpool completed the decade having won two major trophies.
Make no mistake, United and Liverpool are by far and away the most decorated clubs in English football, but if Kane wants trophies he might want to take a glance at his other potential suitors, too.
City are on the hunt for a new striker but it is believed Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland is their top target.
Chelsea have also been linked with Haaland, but with him seemingly City-bound that opens the door for a big-money move for Kane.
Daniel Levy would probably reject any advances from their London rivals for his star man, but with a huge amount of funds at Abramovich's disposal, he might receive an offer too handsome to refuse.
