Max Verstappen set for ‘a nice five years’ as Red Bull star looks ahead to era of dominance after recording back-to-back world championships

While Ferrari and Mercedes look set to challenge Verstappen and Red Bull over the coming years, however, changes to the rules in F1 had threatened to give the likes of Lewis Hamilton a better chance at challenging for titles in the years ahead.

However according to Verstappen Sr, the rule changes shouldn't impact his boy as he prepares for a period of dominance.

He said: "The rules will remain largely the same, the field will therefore come closer together and we will have better races.

"But the strongest driver always floats to the top. If Red Bull continues like this, we will certainly have a nice five years."

Jos was a notable absentee as Max won the World Championship at the Japanese Grand Prix over the weekend and spoke about how the pressure on his son was very different this year to the high-octane championship battle of 2021.

He said: “I'm usually on site but I've been travelling for quite a while and entering Japan wasn't the easiest.

"The pressure last year became unbearable and when it was all over we were overcome with incredibly powerful emotions.

"It was very different this year as we knew the title would come sooner or later, we just didn't know when."
