It’s no secret many New Zealanders live in cold, damp homes. Mould, leaks, and draughts damage health, and 1,600 New Zealanders die every year as a direct result of living in unhealthy, poorly insulated homes. And sadly, it’s not only old houses that cause problems. The reality is that new homes built to current building code are also inadequate because New Zealand’s building standards lag far behind the rest of the developed world.
Formance Structural Insulated Panels, or SIPs are a high-performing building material for the ultimate energy efficient home. Replacing the timber framing building envelope with Formance panels provides continuous insulation with near zero air leakage, creating a consistently warmer, drier and healthier indoor environment for the long term.
Our history
Coming from a background in Automotive, with its advanced lean manufacturing and quality control processes the New Zealand Construction industry of 2013 seemed a strange place to be for founders William and Nick Hubbard.
With raw and recent memories of the devastating earthquake of 2011 in their hometown of Christchurch and faced with an industry struggling to deliver quality housing stock the two brothers knew this was a situation that demanded innovation.
From humble beginnings to the company behind Formance, New Zealand's favourite Structural Insulated Panel, the Formance story is one of trials and triumphs.

Founder
With over a decade at the helm of Formance, Nick has been instrumental in driving the growth and acceptance of SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) in the market. Nick's natural abilities for innovation have seen Formance transform from being an unknown entity to a key part in the New Zealand construction scene. With a diverse background in advanced manufacturing and the automotive industry, Nick brings a unique perspective and a passion for innovation to his work. He's on a mission to challenge the status quo and drive change through better methods of building.
William Hubbard
General Manager
Meet William, Method's experienced general manager who brings a contagious energy and a results-driven approach to the team. Since joining the company in 2017, William has been making waves, developing crucial relationships with key stakeholders and solidifying the Formance SIP system as the go-to choice for projects looking to maximize energy efficiency. With a background in business development, William is a familiar face to many of Method's long-term customers, known for his unwavering commitment to getting things done
Dean Faulkner
Technical Manager
Meet Dean, an experienced builder and project manager who brings a blend of experience and enthusiasm to the Method team. Since joining the company in 2019, Dean has been an integral part of the team, leveraging his expertise to tackle all technical aspects of the business with ease, from collaborating with architects and engineers to managing projects and streamlining the shop drawings process. Today, he takes on the exciting role of R&D and technical support, driving innovation and leading the charge on all things technical at Method.

As a specialist in SIPs for residential projects, he is dedicated to taking your concept and bringing it to life through the manufacturing process. With extensive experience and understanding in energy-efficiency, Corban is committed to ensuring your project is not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally responsible.
Selva Patcha
Senior Detailer
Selva is a qualified structural engineer with over nine years experience in construction management processes and is experienced in providing services for residential and commercial projects. Committed to identifying issues and achieving solutions to increase safety and functionality Selva is currently using his experience to use and develop the dedicated SIP shop drawing package at Method to create shop drawings and optimize the manufacturing processes for high yield of raw materials.
Curtis Bush
Operations Manager
Curtis, our Operations Manager, brings a wealth of experience and a positive attitude to the team. With his years of expertise in Operational Excellence and building with SIPs he keeps our projects running smoothly! And is also a Licensed Building Practitioner, His calm demeanor and clear communication keep the team focused and motivated, even under pressure.
Annie-Rose Everest

Annie-Rose is a highly skilled member of the Formance team who has been contributing to the company since her graduation in 2020. She brings a unique combination of efficiency and organization skills to her role as a Resource Planner and Accounts Manager. Annie-Rose effectively manages all logistics for the company, ensuring timely deliveries of panels, tracking stock arrivals, and overseeing payments with precision. Duncan is a highly skilled Production Supervisor at Formance who brings a wealth of experience to his role. Starting his career in the Formance factory in 2020, Duncan's deep knowledge of the product allows him to continually identify opportunities for improvement and optimization of the flow of projects through our factory . He is highly regarded for his exceptional attention to detail, which is critical in ensuring factory runs at full capacity with maximum accuracy.

Dispatch and Inwards Goods
As Co-Ordinator of Despatch and Inwards Goods, Sammy oversees goods/material deliveries to our factory, loading of trucks and delivery of Formance panels to site. Sammy works with the rest of the team ensuring that your home will be delivered on time!
