Since his iconic role in the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark, Harrison Ford has captivated audiences as the fearless archaeologist Indiana Jones. With four films already under his belt, Ford is set to embark on his final adventure in the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

In this new installment, we find a mature Indiana Jones grappling with the impending end of his career as an archaeology professor. Faced with the ethical dilemma of the United States government employing former Nazis to gain an advantage in the 1960s Space Race against the Soviet Union, Indy is determined to take a stand against this injustice. The film promises to deliver the iconic combination of Indiana Jones and his heroic fight against Nazis, offering fans a fitting conclusion to the franchise. Even Ford himself is hopeful for what this potential final chapter has in store. According to the actor, Dial of Destiny will present Indy in a new phase of his life, highlighting his age and physical limitations as he navigates through the challenges that come with it. Despite facing the dissolution of his academic career, our beloved archaeologist embarks on a final journey at the request of his goddaughter, proving that age is no barrier for a true badass.

Dial of Destiny takes place approximately 12 years after the events of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Skull, just before the historic moon landing in 1969. The film will introduce both familiar and fresh faces, adding depth and excitement to the story.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny cast

Unlike its predecessors, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will not be directed by Steven Spielberg or written by George Lucas, although both will return as executive producers. Instead, James Mangold (Girl, Interrupted, Logan) will take the director’s chair, while the screenplay will be crafted by Jez Butterworth (The Ferryman), John-Henry Butterworth (Ford v Ferrari), David Koepp (Jurassic Park, Spider-Man, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), and James Mangold. Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, will produce the film alongside her husband and frequent collaborator, Frank Marshall. The legendary composer John Williams (Indiana Jones, Jaws, Harry Potter) will return to create the film’s score, adding his signature touch to the thrilling adventure.

Harrison Ford will reprise his role as the older Indiana Jones, an archaeologist and university professor. Joining him is Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, writer on Killing Eve), who will portray Helena Shaw, Indy’s goddaughter, a character previously unseen in the franchise. Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange, Casino Royale, Hannibal) will embody the role of Jürgen Voller, a former Nazi who is also on the hunt for the Dial of Destiny, and Antonio Banderas (The Mask of Zorro, Puss in Boots) will portray Indy’s trusted friend and reliable boat captain.

Here is the full cast of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny:
