What is Fire Suppression System?

A Fire Suppression system suppresses a fire by releasing an agent to reduce either the oxygen, cool the fire or reduce the chemical reaction within the atmosphere..

Either by manual or automatic detection, once the fire is detected, the panel communicates a notification which in turn releases the agent.

 

Fire Suppression systems are being installed to protect all industries across the Kingdom of Bahrain from Restaurants and Bakeries to Offices and Food manufacturers

Why have a Fire Suppression system Installed?

Fire Suppression system is needed by factors that are driven from two factors

  • A company insurance company has stated it in their requirements
  • A company has identified a fire risk situation which cannot reply on an individual to alert or extinguish the fire.

A few important factors that needs to be considered are

  1. The building/Room or data is likely to be at risk or does not have a staff presence during occupied hours than the working hours.
  2. The type of detection needs to be identified as this is the main aspect of the a fire suppression system
  3. Which is the most suitable agent for the type of assets
  4. Other areas/ assets need to calculate on the risk factor, and can the risk spread to other areas.
  5. What is the downtime of the assets if there is a fire? On working out the risk assessment, we need to weigh out cost and loss of production for the company
  6. Should the area be vented after a discharge
  7. Will the system require a spare reserve agent should the system trigger?
  8. Has the room being tested for integrity?
