How to make Cherry Cobbler with Cake Mix
For this recipe, start with a smaller square pan like an 8×8 pan or 9×9 pan. If you want to make a larger version, you can double the recipe and use a 9×13 pan instead. But for this recipe we are using a 9×9 pan.
Lay one can of Cherry Pie filling in the bottom of your ungreased 9×9 pan. Add a thick layer vanilla cake mix on top (roughly about 1/2″ thick). You can use more or less depending on taste–there is no right or wrong way to do this.
Once the cake mix is on top, use a stick of butter and slice the butter about 1/4″ slices and lay evenly across the top of the cake mix, spreading them out about 1/2″ apart. The butter will melt on top of the cake mix and create a nice, crispy cobbler crust!
Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes or until you have a beautiful golden brown crust on top.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream if you want a real treat!
This 3 ingredient cherry cobbler is something I grew up on and remember it so fondly as a child. My mom used to let me help make it with her, so it’s perfect for kids to make because it’s so simple and doesn’t make a huge mess! It’s also create to make in a slow cooker or dutch oven too if you so choose!
Does Cherry Cobbler Have to Be Refrigerated?
Because it’s all canned, I do not think it technically needs to be refrigerated, but we do store ours in the fridge when we’re done eating it. No harm, no foul. I don’t think it would go bad on the countertop though because it doesn’t use fresh cherries or any dairy.
