I can’t even believe we’re approaching the holidays, but believe it or not, they are right on our heels! Where did 2016 go, you guys?! Well, today I’m starting holiday preparations early with one of my FAVORITE things–coffee. Using coffee, I combined a tasty new blend, with a smooth, medium roast blend and balanced with sweet maple notes, and I combined it with my favorite holiday drink…eggnog, then topped it all off with whipped cream, sprinkles, and a homemade shortbread cookie! This would be the perfect drink for any time of the day or cozied up around the Christmas tree! Let me show you how easy it is to make and give you my amazing shortbread recipe!
First, you’ll want to pick up some coffee, as well as Eggnog. If Holiday Blend isn’t your forte, you could always stick with a trusted favorite Starbucks® blend like the Breakfast Blend. I purchased the Breakfast Blend for my regular Saturday morning cup of coffee, which is my favorite medium blend roast.
Next you want to brew up your Starbucks® Holiday Blend coffee in your Keurig. I actually was able to make TWO drinks per one cup because I take about half a cup of coffee and mix it with half a cup of eggnog, so the eggnog is a great accent to the coffee.
The eggnog at the bottom of the cup really makes a pretty coffee drink and if you immediately top it with whipped cream and pretty sprinkles, you have the perfect holiday drink idea on hand!
Finally, I topped with this SUPER simple Homemade Shortbread Recipe! I added a little piece of shortbread onto the top of the coffee drink and it makes the perfect little treat!
Homemade Shortbread Recipe
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons sugar sprinkles
2 cups flour, sifted
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat butter until light and creamy. Add 1/2 cup sugar and beat until fluffy. Sift flour with salt and baking powder and then fold into butter mixture. Put dough on an unbuttered baking sheet and roll into a 1/2 inch thick rectangle. Sprinkle with sugar sprinkles and bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the edges are very lightly browned. Cool for 15 minutes and then cut into bars.
Eggnog Coffee Drink Recipe
1 Holiday Blend Starbucks® K-Cup® pods
1/2 cup eggnog
whipped cream and sprinkles
Brew one cup of Holiday Blend Coffee. Pour into two mugs. Fill other half of mug with eggnog and top with whipped cream and sprinkles. Top with small shortbread cookie bar.
What are your favorite holiday drinks? I can’t wait to get to more holiday baking! Enjoy!
I never would have thought to add Eggnog to my hot drinks! This is a brilliant idea! -client
