CLEMSON — Clemson is coming off a victory against Georgia Tech in what is said to be its most complete game all season. This Saturday concludes the Tigers’ home stretch with Senior Day at 3:30 pm against No. 22 North Carolina.
Running back Will Shipley sat down with the media to preview the upcoming matchup against the Tar Heels and his future here at Clemson. Though he is listed as a junior on the field, Shipley is scheduled to graduate next month, thus he will have the option to participate in Senior Day Activities on Saturday.
–Shipley touched on having to go back and watch his injury at NC State and how tough that was for him. “I thank God and his guidance you know looking back even my freshman year at NC State you know the knee injury could have been a lot worse than it was, but it’s tough just going back and looking at it. When you are actually watching yourself, it is definitely a little different.”
–Coming off a massive weekend from Phil Mafah against Notre Dame, Shipley felt determined to remind everyone of how special he was, too. He said, “for me as a competitor it is a difficult standpoint because I got one of my best friends out there rushing for almost 200 yards absolutely kicking butt and doing his thing that he has worked for, kind of a sour and sweet taste.”
–On getting back into the end zone Shipley said, “I think it’s the biggest hole that I have ever run through in my football career. Huge shoutout to those boys up front. Troy Stellato did a great job over there covering up the DB. I was pumped to get in the end zone, it brought a little fire within me.”
–Shipley on his future here at Clemson, “I’ve been trying to stay in the present as much as I can especially with how this season has gone, but you know I have definitely thought a little bit about it. It is inevitable. You know the opportunities that are there after this season, but I haven’t put enough thought into it. So, I would not be able to give you a great answer right now.”
