Skin lesion removal using cryotherapy in Teddington

What are Skin Lesions?

Benign skin lesions are non-cancerous growths or abnormalities that appear on the skin. They can take various forms, such as moles, skin tags, cysts, warts, or seborrheic keratoses. These lesions are typically harmless and do not pose a significant health risk. Benign skin lesions may arise due to genetic factors, hormonal changes, sun exposure, or ageing. While they are generally not a cause for concern, some benign lesions may cause discomfort, irritation, or cosmetic concerns. In such cases, removal options like surgical excision, cryotherapy, laser therapy, or cauterisation can be considered. It’s important to consult a dermatologist for a proper diagnosis and appropriate management of benign skin lesions. Unfortunately skin lesion removal is no longer available via the NHS.

Here in clinic I offer safe and effective skin lesion removal using cryotherapy. Being an experienced dermatology nurse I have been removing skin lesions for many years.

Why Choose Cryotherapy for Skin Lesion Removal?

Cryotherapy, a procedure that involves freezing the affected tissue, offers several advantages for the removal of benign skin lesions:

  1. Non-Invasive Lesion Removal: Cryotherapy offers a non-invasive solution, eliminating the need for incisions or stitches. This means minimal discomfort and a speedy recovery compared to surgical procedures.
  2. Convenience and Efficiency: Cryotherapy treatments are quick and convenient, typically requiring only a few minutes of your time. With no anaesthesia or downtime needed, you can get back to your daily routine immediately after the procedure.
  3. Proven Effectiveness: Cryotherapy has a high success rate in removing benign skin lesions and is effective in targeting specific areas, allowing for precise removal of the lesion without damaging surrounding healthy tissue.

The Cryotherapy Procedure for Skin Lesion Removal

At your appointment your skin lesion(s) will be assesses during a thorough consultation. If cryotherapy is suitable for your condition, I will explain the procedure and address any concerns you may have.

During the treatment, I apply cryogen to the lesion using a specialised instrument. You may experience a brief sensation of cold or tingling, which is generally well-tolerated. Over time, the frozen lesion forms a scab, which naturally falls off as the skin heals, revealing healthy new tissue.
