The World of Science is one of my new best friends and a favorite part of my science arsenal! Why you might ask? This book has some of the best pictures and descriptions that I have seen in a science book.
It’s not really a typical textbook, but it does have a lot of necessary information with great graphics to aid in explaining the scientific principles. Right now, we are between science books, and we are spending the summer reading through this book. But we’re not just reading through the book…
Nope! We are experimenting through the book. There are lots of experiments in the book that utilize common items to explain the principles in the book.
This experiment explaining chemical changes caught my eye, one day, so I decided we were going to do this next. Once I got an empty pop bottle cleaned out, we were ready to go. We just followed the directions in the book…
and ended up with a blown-up balloon! The kids really enjoyed this experiment, and I’m sure that we will enjoy the rest of them, too.

I highly recommend this book because it is easy to understand, easy to use to explain scientific principles, and has experiments that are easy to do, too. My college degree is in the science field, and I wish I had had a book like this when I was in Elementary/Junior High. The World of Science is available from New Leaf Publishing for $24.99 plus tax/shipping.
