As Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala prepare to take the plunge and wed today in an intimate ceremony at Annapurna Studios, social media has been abuzz with excitement, and controversy.
While pictures of the bride and groom flood online platforms, fans have also been revisiting and sharing old photos of Naga Chaitanya with his ex-wife, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, sparking mixed reactions.
Just a day after fans noted that Chay still had a poster of the film 'Majili' with Sam, many on Instagram noted that the actress too had some old pictures featuring her ex-husband. One of the resurfaced photos, a black-and-white candid from their wedding, was originally shared as a heartfelt birthday post. Samantha had captioned it: "Happy birthday my Everything. I don’t wish, I pray every single day that God gives you everything your heart desires. I love you forever."
"Why is this popping on my feed now," asked a confused fan.
Another reacted to the post saying, "Delete kr dijye ab ky fayda?"
Another photo gaining traction is from a friends' reunion, where the former couple recreated an older click, celebrating their bond. Samantha had captioned it, "Best friends till we are old and wrinkly."
While some fans fondly reminisced about the couple's past, others urged Samantha to delete the posts.
Sam and Chay first captivated fans with their crackling chemistry in the 2010 Telugu romantic film 'Ye Maaya Chesave'. Seven years down the line, the two announced their engagement in 2017 and wed months later in Goa. After a highly publicised 4-year marriage, the two shocked fans with their sudden divorce announcement in 2021.
Meanwhile, Chay is now getting ready to marry Sobhita in a wedding steeped in tradition. The ceremony will take place at Annapurna Studios, a 22-acre site established in 1976 by his grandfather and legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The 8-hour-long ceremony will include rituals paying homage to their shared cultural roots.
According to reports, Chaitanya will don a traditional Pancha as a tribute to his grandfather, while Sobhita will wear a traditional silk saree for the ceremony.
The Akkineni family proudly announced the marriage of Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala in a grand, traditional Telugu wedding held at the iconic Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad. The ceremony featured an elaborate temple-themed setup and carried immense sentimental value as the first major celebration following the unveiling of the statue of Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) Garu, honoring the legendary actor-producer’s birth centenary.
