Suryaveer Hooja is quite a star among Delhi's partygoers for his performances at some popular venues in NCR. The singer performs in different cities across India, but feels that only NCR has an audience for every kind of music.
"When it comes to music, Delhi's audience has evolved a lot in the last few years. Live performances have become popular and there is a demand for every kind of music here.
People tell me that Delhiites go to clubs only to dance, I don't believe them now. Delhiites respect good music and artistes. When we are performing here, we know that we can choose any kind of music and the audience will appreciate it. Even for upcoming artistes, the scene has changed a lot. The audience actually encourages them and it’s good to see that," says Suryaveer, who recently recreated 'Ankhiya Ureek Diyan' and 'Ve Main Chori Chori' with Shibani Kashyap.
The singer says that "recreating those songs was an experiment, but they got a very good response from the audience." He adds, "When I pick up any classic, popular song, the idea is to not just make another remix. I want to recreate something new from that song. And the new version of the song is like my ode to the original composer. If you see all the songs that I have recreated so far, they are very different from the remixes that we otherwise hear. My favourite remains 'Yaara Teri Yaari'. The song did not just give me instant fame, but has also been very lucky for me. My experience says that no matter what is said about remixes, 95% of the audience still loves them."
