Here’s why free airport lounge access was denied to many flyers

Last weekend, many flyers took to social media saying they were denied lounge access. While airport operators blamed aggregator DreamFolks, the latter said it was diligently working with partners to identify the root cause. Is there more to this than meets the eye?

Around a decade ago, MakeMyTrip hit turbulence when IndiGo, now India’s largest low-cost airline, suddenly pulled out its inventory from the country’s largest travel portal. IndiGo alleged that MakeMyTrip was selling ‘masked’ cheaper tickets on behalf of Kingfisher Airlines and favouring the cash-strapped carrier.
Even though IndiGo was half of what it is today, one in three air passengers were flying it. So, the Nasdaq-listed MakeMyTrip could not afford to not have IndiGo on its site for long.
