In one episode of the Feel It In Your Soul podcast, Kapil Sharma spoke out about his journey from suffering in Mumbai to becoming a global celebrity. The comic remembers arriving in Mumbai with barely Rs 1200 in his pocket, and there were times when he struggled to afford a single meal every day.
In the same podcast, the Crew actor discussed how his bank account went to zero after deciding to make two films. He claimed that he lost all of his money and went through a difficult period in his life, which eventually led to depression. Kapil said, "Mera dimaag kharab hogaya." Maine do filmein bana diya (I lost my mind and made two films).
Talking in Punjabi, he said, "Actually, what happened was that I had a lot of money, and I thought one becomes a producer with money. But one never becomes a producer with just money. Producers have a different thinking. There's a different training to become a producer. I wasted a lot of money, and my bank balance went down to zero."
Kapil Sharma also recounted how his wife, Ginni Chatrath, helped him get through a difficult period in his life. The comedian claimed that, in addition to losing money on film production, he had sadness due to a variety of other factors.
Although that period was difficult for him, the actor believes that everything that occurred to him was necessary because if it hadn't happened, he wouldn't be where he is today.
