A year in chaos: Major moments since the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel

Hamas unshielded an unprecedented multi-front attack on Israel, firing around 5000 rockets, killing at least 250 individuals and rendering 1500 injured. Nearly a week after the initial attack on Israel, Israel began ground operations on Gaza. The IDF ordered all civilians in Gaza City to evacuate to areas south of Wadi Gaza. Palestinians throughout the region, including those in Gaza City, were given 24 hours to relocate southward, following which, Israel began its bombing campaign.

During an ongoing raid, Israeli troops discovered weapons and "terror infrastructure" inside the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza, and alleged it to be a Hamas command center. WHO described the hospital as a "death zone", with a mass grave at the entrance and nearly 300 patients left inside with 25 health workers.
