Titans' Derrick Henry may have suffered season-ending injury vs. Colts

The Tennessee Titans might have taken a serious blow to their hopes of competing for a title in 2021, as running back Derrick Henry may have suffered a season-ending injury in Week 8 versus the Indianapolis Colts.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the fear is that Henry suffered a Jones fracture will require surgery and potentially end his season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that if it is indeed a jones fracture as Schefter is reporting, he could be back in as little as eight weeks, so there’s some hope here.

No matter what, this is a stunning turn of events for Henry and the 6-2 Titans. The star back injured himself early on in Week 8, but was able to finish the game, which led us to believe that he would be OK.

If it turns out he’s done for the season, it would be a devastating blow for the Titans, who lean heavily on Henry to make their offense go, both on the ground and through the air. There is simply no replacing a guy like Henry.

On the flip side, if Henry is able to return later in the season, the Titans are in a good enough position right now to weather the storm and make the playoffs until he returns.
