  1. When driving to Bellwald, just before the last bend up to Bellwald from the main road - right next to the main road - you will see one of Switzerland's longest suspension bridges. There is a dedicated parking area beside the bridge for bridge visitors. The "Goms Bridge", which was built and completed in the summer of 2015, connects the Bellwald and Ernen hiking regions, as well as the Rottenweg and the Gommer Höhenweg. At the same time, it connects Bellwald to the cantonal Gletsch-Lake Geneva cycling path and offers year-round access to the Binntal Landscape Park.

The suspension bridge is 280 meters in length and 1.4 meters in width. When you step on it, it shakes a little, but don't worry, it's a robust build. Toplist highly suggests visiting Ernen hamlet after crossing the bridge, which contains a handful of eateries where you may have a cup of coffee or some local food.

  2. Biking was becoming increasingly popular in Bellwald, so in 2016, the community developed a downhill track that is currently drawing an increasing number of riders each year. Initially, the challenging track known as Black Trail "National" was developed for expert riders, with a quick flow and several great jumps. The entire route is 2.3 kilometers long. Later, the Blue Trail "Denis X-Trail" was developed, which is 2 kilometers long and suited for novices.

To access the riding path, use a skiing lift in Bellwald and you'll be on the track in 5 minutes. If you don't have your own bike, don't worry, everything can be found and rented in Bellwald. If you don't feel like downhill biking, you may ride your mountain bike on the trails just next to Bellwald. The Stoneman route, which is 127 kilometers long and travels to the Aletsch Glacier region, is the most popular. It's a fascinating biking path alongside glaciers and valleys.

  3. Skiing is always an exhilarating experience, and in Bellwald you will get the finest experience imaginable. Bellwald offers a skiing resort with 20 kilometers of slopes: black, red, blue - everything you could want. But that's not all: there are sledding routes (including night sledding, which is a lot of fun), an exciting snow park to practice your jumps, a snowboarding and skiing school (excellent for beginners), and even free-riding slopes.

Bellwald will be immediately connected to Fiesch town (by gondola) beginning in 2022/2023, and this village will be directly connected to one of Switzerland's largest skiing areas: Aletsch Arena. More than 100 kilometers of slopes with elevations reaching 2869 meters. A true skier's heaven.

  4. At over 15 kilometers, the Fiescher Glacier is the second-longest in the Alps. It is one of the gems of the "Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch" UNESCO World Heritage Site, which preserves the most glaciated territory in the Alps. There are nine peaks exceeding 4,000 meters in the reserve, including the majestic Finsteraarhorn (4,273 meters), which looms high above the glacier. This exciting journey climbs the hills above Bellwald to a vantage point with a stunning outlook up the ice river. The track then returns to the starting point by a different path a few hundred meters higher, with superb views over the upper Rhône valley.

A leisurely chairlift ride from Bellwald takes hikers to the hike's starting point at Richenen. With its welcoming mountain restaurant, lake, and adventure track for small children, this is a favorite sport for families. A play ship near the lake, a tree house, a slide, musical instruments, skill tests, and a research station enable young tourists to learn about the local flora and animals.

  5. The Aletsch Glacier is the longest and largest glacier in the Alps. It is 23 kilometers long, 4160 meters tall at its tallest point, and 940 meters thick. It is certainly one of the top three places to visit in Switzerland. Others include Zermatt and the Matterhorn and Jungfrau area. To reach the observation point, ride a gondola from Fiesch all the way to the summit. In the summer, the gondola runs from 9 a.m. to 17 p.m.

On your journey to the Aletsch Glacier, stop in Fiescheralp, a little mountain community with a few eateries and a really lovely panoramic walk leading to Bettmeralp. When you get to the Aletsch Glacier station, there are a few observation sites and a hut/restaurant named Horli-Hitta. If you have additional time, you may trek to Eggishorn for even greater glacier views. If you want to try something new, you may go on a glacier trip, where you will go directly to a glacier and stroll around it with a trained guide.

  6. The settlement was first mentioned in 1374 and has a long and illustrious history. When you arrive at Bellwald, many people recommend exploring the old town, which has many ancient wooden houses. You'd be astonished at how well they're preserved (in excellent shape) and how many of these residences can still be found there. Some of the homes date back centuries.

You can almost sense life as it was 200 or more years ago, as the streets between houses become incredibly small and no automobile can cross. It's a squeezing small wooden ancient town. Visit the church, which has a lovely interior, as well as the nearby chapel. When you leave the church, there will be a cinema sign directly in front of the church gates. It is a little wooden home that you may enter for free. Inside, you will discover a small theater (a large TV with a touchscreen) with various local movies about Bellwald's history, historical images, and guided tours. In such a cinema, you may learn a lot about the neighborhood.
