Census Records
Federal census records for the city are available for 1830,
1840, 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930.� Census data for New Jersey was lost for the
years 1790 thru 1820 and 1890.� In
1830, the current area of the city of Trenton was divided between Hunterdon
and Burlington Counties.�
State censuses were done between federal surveys starting in 1855,
unfortunately returns for Trenton are only available for 1885, 1895, 1905
and 1915.�
The following maps show the political boundaries of Trenton through the nineteenth
century. They come from a 1964 thesis about Trenton from Jessie Rose Turk.
