TV show description:
Based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the Krypton TV show is a Superman prequel series from executive producers David S. Goyer and Cameron Welsh. Unfolding 200 years before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, the superhero drama centers on his grandfather, Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe).
A staunch, yet hopeful advocate for equality, Seg is faced with the starkest of choices. He can either save Krypton, or allow its destruction, in order to protect the fate of his future grandson.
Once one of the great scientists of Krytpon, Seg’s own grandfather, Val-El (McElhinney), was key to much of its scientific progress. He returns, after a fourteen-year absence, as an integral player in staving off the threat to Krypton.
A time-traveling human, Adam Strange (Sipos) winds up stuck on Krypton. There, he ends up mentoring Seg-El. Adam is willing to pull out all the stops to make sure the world’s greatest hero — the Man of Steel — comes into being.
As the head of Kandor’s Military Guild, Jayna-Zod (Ogbomo) has made it her life’s mission to protect the people on all fronts. As the mother of Lyta (Campbell), Jayna dearly desires to leave behind a legacy of resolute duty.
Although Lyta-Zod wants to live up to her family’s reputation, she also feels the pull to help and heal the people of Krypton. As she comes into her own, Lyta must choose between fulfilling society’s expectations of her and beating her own path.
A Sagitari bound to Lyta, Dev-em (Pierr) is proud to be a protector of Kandor. To him, her mother Jayna is the epitome of a warrior. Since he has loved Lyta since childhood, he is dangerously jealous of Seg-El.
As the youngest daughter of the House of Vex, Nyssa-Vex (Day) is an astute lawmaker, with keen political acumen, and an easy confidence in her place among Kandor’s ruling class. Although she skillfully forges alliances, she learns about true friendship, thanks to Seg.
With Krypton’s leadership in disarray and the House of El ostracized, Seg must redeem the family honor and protect his loved ones, while facing challenges from all angles.
Series Finale:
Episode #20 — The Alpha and the Omega
The future of Krypton is at stake as Seg faces off against his enemy, General Zod, with the help of his allies.
First aired: August 14, 2019.
What do you think? Do you like the Krypton TV series? Should this Syfy TV show have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
They cancelled a great show after two seasons just as it was getting good. Smallville ran for 10 seasons. Superman has been around since 1938. Back to Lois and Lane. This is like this country’s idol. Pretty pissed that they just drop a show with a cliff hanger. What show will be next.
Liked Krypton! Sad to lose it. Also Knightfall.
I think Krypton was a great series . I know it must’ve took a lot of money to create all those sets and special effects . The actors were all awesome . I often wondered how long this show would last . Too bad it didn’t .
I think there ought to be a law in Hollywood that the writers for a series cannot end a season of any series on a cliffhanger unless they have it in writing that said series has been renewed for another season. I can’t even COUNT the number of sci-fi series I have invested multiple seasons on and gotten attached to the characters and story lines, only to have the networks cancel them after a cliffhanger season finale. No attempt is ever made to tie up all the loose plotlines that are left lingering, and it’s frustrating as hell!
Upset that SyFy network cancelled this show after two seasons. They did the same thing with Dark Matter. Each show could clearly have had two more seasons with the material they were using and the story lines they had set up for season three. I did like the season two origin of Doomsday story line.
The CW network should snatch up this great show if TPTB at SyFy are too dumb to continue with it.
I am so p*ssed off at the SyFy network. Once again they have prematurely canceled an actual GOOD show with clever writing, great characters, and a sometimes heavy storyline tempered by wonderful subtle tongue-in-cheek humor.
Why should I ever start watching another original SyFy show? We watch them, get drawn in and then they cancel them in the middle of storylines with no conclusion.
I am starting to freaking hate this network.
Typical moves by a typical channel that doesn’t know its head, from its arse!
Unfortunate ending to what could have been an excellent show that could have lasted many years. So much potential lost with upcoming hero’s and villains.
