Union Baptist Church of Jamestown-High Point was birthed in 2016 as a vision imparted by Bishop Sir Walter Mack. With a deep desire to create a ministry that would meet the needs of the people, the vision came to life on September 11, 2016, when the first worship service was held at Castle McCullough. From the beginning, the ministry was built on the dedication and faith of 24 committed individuals known as the “Core 24,” who worked tirelessly to establish and grow the church.

In 2016, Bishop Mack and the Executive Board of Union Baptist Church appointed Rev. Dr. Kia Hood-Scott as the Site Pastor of the Union Baptist Church, Jamestown-High Point Site. Under her dynamic leadership, the ministry has experienced significant growth and become a cornerstone of the community.

Over the years, Union Baptist Church has journeyed through various locations, demonstrating resilience and adaptability. The ministry worshiped at the YWCA of High Point, the Red Lion Hotel, and even a fitness studio. During the global pandemic, the church embraced technology, hosting worship services online via Zoom, ensuring that the spirit of fellowship and worship continued uninterrupted.

In 2021, a miraculous blessing came to fruition when God answered the prayers of the congregation, providing a permanent church home at 1756 Lamb Avenue, High Point. This milestone marked a new chapter for the ministry, as it flourished and grew to over 100 members, solidifying its role as a beacon of hope and service in the community.

True to its mission to meet the needs of the people, Union Baptist Church has become affectionately known as the “community church,” where the community matters. The ministry has made a significant impact through various outreach efforts, including the annual Back2School Drive, which has served over 1,000 students in the past three years.

Partnerships with organizations like Fairview Elementary and local agencies have enabled food drives, clothing distributions, and benevolence programs that continue to uplift the community.

Union Baptist Church has grown spiritually and organizationally, offering robust ministries that cater to the diverse needs of its congregation. These include the Men’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Children’s and Youth Ministry, and Young Adult Ministry. The Music and Fine Arts Ministry has expanded to include three choirs: the Sanctuary Choir, Youth Choir, and Men’s Choir. Additional ministries, such as Media, Parking Lot, Security, Mission and Outreach, Culinary, New Members, and Ushers/Greeters, have further enriched the church’s ability to serve both its members and the community.

The church is led by an Executive Leadership Team that remains committed to guiding the congregation with integrity, vision, and a heart for service.

Union Baptist Church, Jamestown-High Point, stands as a testament to faith, dedication, and God’s provision. Under the inspired leadership of Rev. Dr. Kia Hood-Scott, the ministry has flourished and continues to grow, transforming lives and uplifting the community. From its humble beginnings to its present-day success, the church remains steadfast in its mission to be a ministry that meets the needs of the people.

To God be the glory for the things He has done!
