Barry Keoghan
Barry Keoghan is an Irish actor from Dublin who is widely considered to be one of his country’s biggest contemporary stars. He has been nominated for an Academy Award and two Golden Globe Awards throughout his career and is also the recipient of one British Academy Film Award. Although he began acting in smaller supporting roles starting in 2011, he gained international recognition in 2017 for his performances in Yorgos Lanthimos’ dark comedy “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” and Christopher Nolan’s WWII survival thriller “Dunkirk.” His role in the Lanthimos film made Keoghan an instant favorite at playing disturbed outsiders, a character type he’d explore in a leading man capacity courtesy of Emerald Fennell’s 2022 eat-the-rich thriller “Saltburn,” which is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. Keoghan’s “Saltburn” performance earned him a Golden Globe nomination for best actor in a motion picture drama. He jumped to Hollywood tentpoles with a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe starting in 2021 by playing Druig in Chloe Zhao’s “Eternals,” which co-starred Richard Madden and Angelina Jolie. His most acclaimed performance arrived in 2022 when he starred in Martin McDonaugh’s drama “The Banshees of Inisherin,” headlined by Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. Keoghan won the BAFTA Film Award for supporting actor and earned nominations in the same category at the Oscars and Golden Globes.
