All I know about this is what is listed below. The business finds its origin as early as 1808. With the establishment in Meriden of a small plant for the production of pewter or Britannia ware. At a later date. It was the foresight of the Britannia makers which turned into a success the efforts of the Rogers brothers. Joining together of the mechanical genius of the Hartford experimenters and the practical business ability of the Britannia makers constituted the definite beginning of silverware making as a business. The Rogers brothers had met with success their activity. But were hampered by lack of capital and qualified organization to market their product. In 1852 six or seven small Britannia ware plants in the town of Meriden were organized by Horace C. and Dennis C. Wilcox into the Meriden Britannia Co supplying Britannia. Albata and German silver ware, both plated and unplated, to many other firms. An agreement was reached whereby the genius and skill of the Rogers were joined with the initiative and business ability of the Meriden concern. And the latter began the production of goods that were later to be described in the catalogue of the Meriden Britannia Co. in the year 1867, as supplying"all the advantages of silver in durability and beauty at one-fifth the cost"

Very beautiful Rare piece of history/cookware. Base measures 8" Top of pan measures just under 10.5" height with lid is 8" This piece is silver plated. Stamped date 1869. Monogrammed'R.H. L. H. 1822. From E.H. L.E.H. 1872. I have done my best reading the monogram but no longer have 20/20 vision, I cannot guaranty the initials but can tell you I have done my best with a magnifying glass. I think this set is missing a third piece, a frame for the base. The lid has two small digs, that does not take away the beauty of the piece. The base dish show wear and has a obvious dig. Meriden B. Company Quadruple Silver Plate Ornate Creamer - Antique
I found this antique creamer/hot milk pitcher and to be honest. I don't know much about it other than it is OLD according to the bottom stamp. Meriden B. Company is a well-respected name in the silver plating industry and it is a sought after name that collectors seek. The floral pattern is very ornate and is seen around the bottom; the handle and on top of the lid. I have not polished it but it appears to have more of a pewter type coloring as opposed to a bright white silver color. The lid has a couple slight dents which causes the top point to tilt a bit to the back. The inside is scratched as you can see in the pictures which is why I think it may have been used for hot milk or syrup. Stamp: Meriden B. Double Castor/Cruet Frame/stand MERIDEN B COMPANY gothic design
You are bidding on an old DOUBLE PICKLE CASTOR STAND. In excellent shape, looks like it was replated! It is about 8 inches wide by 11 inches high, holds cruets about 3 1/4 inches in diameter, maybe less. There are 4 ornate feet, has a woman's head stamped on the front and back of the middle section and Roman's heads on the handle, plus It looks like it will shine up. There is a stamp MERIDEN B COMPANY, with the double ax logo, and 30 under the base, indicating that is was made in the late 1900's. The only flaw that I did see was the hook for the cruet tongs, it looks like it is missing part of the end of the original hook. This is a very old dish that is missing the bird. It is numbered 0532. Quadruple plate, Meriden Silver Plate Company(hard to read but appears to say this) It is aprox. 6-7" around. Has 4 feet on the bottom. Needs a cleaning. What you see is what your getting. This is what I found about the company on line. The Meriden Silver Plate Company was founded in 1852 by Charles Casper in Meriden. Connecticut, and was well known for producing a variety of different silver-plated items which ranged from wine coolers, pickle castors, napkin holders and much more. The company's silver items typically feature maker's marks with the company's name inside of a circular design. While their limited-edition silver items were marked with individual numbers. Antique Meriden Britannia Company brides basket with handle- late 1890's?
This antique silverplated brides basket is marked Meriden B. Company on the bottom. It also has the number 1786. I do not believe this is the maker date- Meriden Britannia Company was established in 1852 and in 1898 formed the International Silver Co. The grandparents were married about 1897. So it does fit with that time period and maker marks. I could not positively date this specific maker mark as they used several marks. It does need a good polishing. There are no dents or damage. It is 9 1/2 inches diameter and 6 inches tall to the bowl and 12 1/2 inches tall with the handle up. The handle moves freely and is securely attached. Please ask if you have questions. Meriden B Company Sterling Silver Cobalt Blue Insert Salt Shaker/ Cellar Spoon
Beautiful old sterling silver salt or pepper shaker with open salt cellar. Both with cobalt blue glass insert. The shaker measures 3" tall including the lid. The lid is marked"Sterling 5" and the bottom of the shaker is marked"Sterling 477" with a bird makers mark(See 5th picture) This mark is from Meriden Britannia Co. and dates to 1895. The lid has a couple of very small dings on the side. Nothing offensive. Only mentioned for accuracy. The open cellar dish measures 1" tall x 2" long. It is marked on the bottom sterling 470. LARGE ANTIQUE 1858 MERIDEN COMPANY[CONNECTICUT] DOUBLE-WALLED WATER PITCHER WITH LOVELY EDUARDIAN/ PRE-VICTORIAN MOTIF. this is a very early. Finely realized piece. It is substantial- measuring 13" in height and 11" at the widest point. The entire piece has ornate etchwork. THe handle has a unique finial- a female bust. It also has 2 cameo medallions/ cartouches. It has a shallow dent in the middle of one side, and a small drilled hole on the underside, as well as several minor surface scratches, which are commensurate with age. Fantastic& beautiful late 1800's Meriden B. Company coffee/tea set. Marked on the bottom Meriden B. Company Quadruple Plate. Meriden stopped marking their pieces"Quadruple Plate" in 1896. So that would date this piece anywhere from 1852-1895. All three pieces have a beautiful hand chased or etched floral design all the way around. The coffee pot has a hinged lid. Lid fits nice and tight. The coffee pot stands 12" tall to the top of the finial. Beautiful long goose neck spout. The sugar dish is covered. It stands 7" tall to the top of the finial. The creamer stands 6.5" tall. All pieces are in GREAT condition considering the age.Someone took very good care of them. They need to be polished a bit. They have NO plate loss. Elegant Meriden B. Company Vintage Teapot! Fine Detailing! Eminntly Usable!
Offered today for Your Bidding Pleasure is this Fabulous Vintage Tea Pot! It was made by The Meriden B. Company. That is the Meriden Britannia Company. They went into business in 1852 in Meriden Ct. In 1876 the company won awards at the Philadelia Centennial Exhibition. By 1878 they had a store in Union Square in New Your City and were expanding west and east to London. They were one of the founders of the International Silver Co. Their signature backstamp with the scale was used into the 1930's. The Company was formed to produce Britannia Ware.a whitemetal holloware but within 5 years was producing exquisitely detailed silverplate. I believe that this piece was made between 1920 and 1960 mostly based on the style.I have found no way to exactly date it. This piece is so elegant. The beaded detailing around the rim is exquisite. There ... moreis beautiful repousse work on the spout. Handle and above the feet. It is in fine condition and should be used. Overall. Condition is excelent with some darkening on the center of the low body on each side.I only use a polish cloth on the silver that I am selling. The piece weighs 2lbs. Meriden B Company 4800 Silverplate Covered Serving Bowl Butter Dish Swan Finial
Information about the Meriden B Company is challenging to find. But this company manufactured silverware out of"black silver" which was a mix of silver and other metals, which was more economical at the time but still had the face of expensive silver settings. This delightfully ornate, 6 1/2" tall bowl may have been a butter server, but over time, the insert has been lost. The lid of this dish is domed-shaped with the finial being a highly detailed swan with outstretched wings. Around the outside middle of the bowl is an ornate border of open work filigree design. The interior of the dish measures approximately 2 1/2" deep and 5 1/2" across. The base is supported by 4 individual open work feet. On the bottom of the dish is is a circle with a scale of justice logo in the center with Meriden B-Company stamped around ... moreit. Outside the bottom of the circle is the number 800 which may be the identifying stock number. The piece is in fair to good used condition, with the inside of the lid shiny and clean with a few light scratches. The interior of the base has some light scratches as well with some wear around the rim. As pictured, we have not polished the dish, choosing to leave that up to the new owner. It does give the item a great antique look, but I'm sure it will look spectacular polished. This beautiful piece is really a wonderful example of expert craftsmanship and a real labor of love. The Dish is supported by a small base. It has two very fancy handles and has a knife rest on the front of the Dish. There is an insert that sits on a lip in the Butter Dish that is used for butter, the ice to keep the butter cool would be under this insert. The Lid is Dome shaped with a fancy finial that would be used as the handle for removing the Lid, it is very nice. I have also included a used butter knife that did not come with the butter dish. The knife has worn spots on it. The Butter Dish measures approximately 6-1/2" in diameter. Measuring from the outside of the handles it is 9-3/4" and the Dish itself is 2-7/8" tall. Meriden B Company, Sugar & Creamer, 1881
Very fine condition. Egyptian Revival Motif. All 4 legs have faces. Ivy impressed pattern on body of both and on sugar lid. The lidded sugar has 2 sculptural heads on each handle and a single head on each of the 4 legs. The creamer has 2 heads on the handle and a head on each of the 4 legs. I have determined that this motif was very popular when the great excavations were coming to light in Egypt and the popular culture of the day fell in love with the artistic discoveries. The bottom impressed marking reads: Meriden B Company and the date 1881. The pieces are all in'as found' condition. The oxidized patina has to be very old. The sugar bowl with lid is 8" tall. 9" handle to handle. The creamer is 6 1/2" tall and spout to handle 6" The pieces are in excellent condition. No dings or scars and no signs of wear. Based on the marking on top of the revolving tray(bottle holder) the marking dates to roughly 1853-1878. This has wear to some areas of the plating. Which you can see in the pictures. This should be expected considering its age. The entire piece measures 16 ½” tall and the base measures 5 ½. There is not a number stamped near the Meriden mark. There is a 77 marked on the base. I have looked online and I am yet to locate one with this beaver figure. The bottle holder ring turns freely. This has 4 out of the 5 bottles. I didn’t notice any chips on any of the bottles. Meriden Silverplate Covered Butter Dish You are bidding on a very ornate covered butter from Meriden Silver Company. It is marked on the base Meriden Company B… and Quadruple Plate. The pattern is#4984. The bowl is surrounded with a bird and floral design. The base has vertical lines. It is paired with a silverplate master butter knife from International Silver in their Springtime Pattern. This piece would be excellent as a butter. Mint, or sugar cube dish. The butter knife could be replaced with a teaspoon or serving spoon. Measures about 8 1/2 inches tall to the finial and about 10 inches in diameter from handle to handle. The bowl is 6 inches in diameter. Very nice late 19 th century vintage condition– no major scratches. Normal wear and use can be seen. This is a gorgeous Meriden Company 3 piece covered butter warmer. The porcelain enameled removable tray is still here! Stamped/ marked number 4924 this is a great addition to your collection. The cover is topped with a rounded lift knob and the dome is etched in detailed floral design. The removable tray has enamel loss and shows oxidation on the exposed metal. The four point leg base has an elegantly sloped lip that tappers down to the beautifully detailed scrolled legs with what appears to be topped with ivy and has a bearded mans profile facing forward on all 4 legs. I am not sure but he could be wearing what looks like a jesters/jokers hat. Egg Scale, civil war ornate, early Meriden B Company silver plate
Up for auction is my Aunt's antique ornate silver plated egg scale made by the Meriden B Company(see early Meriden hallmark stamp in pic) Notice the wear in the center of the weighing pad. Lots of eggs were placed on it over the decades. Every henge and screw is in working order along with the balancing large strew. A fully functional scale. The Meriden B Company was formed in 1852. The B stands for Britannia. This was a silver and silver plating company and many smaller silver makers eventually came together and formed the International Silver Co. in 1898. Black silver as it was called back then. And much of it has warn off especially around the numbered scale on this piece, exposing the base metal not rust. See pictures. Meriden B Company was a manufacturer that made silverware out of"black silver" the kind of silver that was economical during the time. It still had the flare of expensive silver settings and today the silver alone is of high value.Since refined silver was getting high in value and the price of refined silver was costly at the time. Meriden B Company started offering silver that was not"refined" before it was marked, it was before"nickle silver" so the silver is still 100 percent! Here we have a very unusual and unique Tea Pot. This beauty is marked and made by Meriden B. Company with a date stamp? of 1884 and the number 6 below that, it has the weighing scales inside a shield type design. I cannot find a silver mark but obviously it is silver, I'm not sure if it's solid silver because I am not familiar on how to tell other than seeing a mark, As you can see I spot cleaned in a few areas so you could see that it cleaned up from a purple/blue color to a shiny silver, This Teapot is 11" tall and from spout to handle is 9 1/2" There is lots of nice detail and it is very eye catching, even the finial is detailed inside the top. There are 2 small dimple like spots, a mere 1/4" and a 3rd dimple 1"x1/2" had to look hard to see them, It weighs about 2.4 pounds.If you need more photo's please ... morefeel free to ask. This wonderful. Charming 2 1/2" H x 4 6/8" W quadruple plate bowl was made by the Meriden Britannia Company of Meriden, CT. Meriden B. Co. was a manufacturer that made silverware out of"black silver" the kind of silver that was economical during part of the 1800s. The product itself will appear black before you polish it. All Meriden B Company is over 100 years old and have a historical value; some families that can trace back 100 years will know about the Meriden B Company product. Meriden B Company went out of business after becoming well known for these kinds of products. Item sold"As Is" so please review pictures carefully. There are only a few nicks on the bottom side and inside. But otherwise, it is in very good condition.

Antique Vintage Meriden B Company 1688 Basket Silverplate Ornate Serving Dish
This silverplate basktet came from a Vermont auction. It has some issues. There are a couple of bends in the ruffled rim that may bend back. There are 4 small dings that the camera would not pick up and there is tarnishing and use marks. The basket is marked Meriden B Company 1688 on the bottom. The basket measures 8 1/2" high with the handle up. 3 3/4" high without the handle, and 9 1/2" in diameter to the outside of the rim.

Sterling Silver Water Pitcher from Ellmore Silver Company Meriden, Connecticut
This beautiful Sterling Silver Water Pitcher is marked on the bottom as you can see in the picture. I am told that the mark is that of the Ellmore Silver Company of Meriden. Connecticut. They were in business from 1935 to 1960 to the best of my knowledge. It measures eight and a quarter inches tall at the tallest point, weighs 637.86 grams, and holds seven cups up to the first rim.
