Never again serve sad, bland green beans; perfectly seasoned crispy green beans will be requested again and again!

Roasted Crispy Green Beans
We love these green beans so much that I almost always cook the full two pounds. However, if you aren’t feeding an army of hungry boys, feel free to cut the recipe in half for fewer servings.
Start with fresh beans; you can usually find them year-round in your grocers’ produce department. Leave them long and just trim or snap the ends off.

I know it can be tempting to use frozen green beans. Just know that crispy isn’t going to happen. They will still taste amazing, thanks to this spice blend, but they have too much moisture from being frozen to actually get nice and crispy.
Once you have trimmed, washed, and thoroughly dried the green beans, you are ready to spread them on a baking sheet and drizzle them lightly with oil.
Sprinkle the seasoning mixture generously across the beans and give them a quick toss making sure they all get evenly coated.

Roasting at 425°F results in a toasted, crispy exterior. Trust me; you’ll find yourself roasting your green beans every time from now on. That spicy coating with a toasty crunch is so good!
There isn’t a wrong way to cook “crispy green beans.” You can choose to have the entire bean remain crisp with slightly browned edges or allow the edges to develop a deep brown edge and crispness.
Going for a little bit longer roasting time will soften the beans more, it is our absolute favorite way to make them. We usually wind up standing near the stove and eating them straight off the pan when made this way.

Spicy Green Beans
Have you ever had that moment when you get the perfect blend of seasonings and spices? When there is just enough of each seasoning to complement what you are putting it on. This spice blend on green beans is a chef’s kiss.
Green beans have such a mild taste to them. Let’s face it, green beans are often borderline boring; so go ahead and have fun with how you season them.
Garlic, onion, and chili powders are combined with smoked paprika, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to create a fragrant seasoning blend that isn’t overwhelmingly spicy.
You will enjoy how much flavor these spicy green beans bring to a meal. They go perfectly as a side dish with mild fish or chicken breast.

Crispy Green Beans
Ingredients
- 2 pounds green beans ends trimmed
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- ¾ teaspoon kosher salt adjust to taste
- ½ teaspoon granulated garlic or garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon granulated onion or onion powder
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked or traditional paprika
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground pepper adjust to taste
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- freshly chopped cilantro or Italian parsley
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F. Place the green beans on the baking sheet and drizzle with oil. Combine the salt, garlic, onion, chili powder, paprika, black pepper, and cayenne in a small bowl and stir to combine. Sprinkle the green beans with all of the spices and toss to coat.
- Roast the green beans for 20 minutes, stir and roast for an additional 15 minutes. If you prefer the green beans to remain a bit more naturally crisp, you can serve them at this point. I like to continue roasting them for an additional 10-20 minutes until the edges are deeply browned, and the beans are “soft” with very crisp edges.
