Google Wallet User Policy

Effective Date: Feb 12, 2024

Google has developed the following policies to promote a trustworthy and secure environment on Google Wallet. Any individual using Google Wallet must adhere to these policies. If you suspect any illegal content on Google Wallet, please report it to us immediately.

Google reserves the right to change these policies at any time. This Policy has to be read together with the Terms of Service of the particular product you are using, which may contain additional rules on how to use the service.

The following behavior when using the Google Wallet is prohibited:

Account Hijacking

Do not access another user’s account without their permission. We may take appropriate action if we are notified of account hijacking, which may include reporting you to the relevant authorities, removing access to some of our products, or disabling your Google Account.

Dangerous & Illegal Activities

Do not use Google Wallet to engage in dangerous and illegal activities.

Impersonation & Misrepresentation

Do not impersonate a person or organization or misrepresent yourself. This includes impersonating any person or organizations you don’t represent, or providing misleading information about a user’s identity, qualifications, ownership, purpose, products, services, or business.

Personal & Confidential Information

Do not store or distribute other people’s personal or confidential information without authorization. This includes sensitive information, such as identity documents, U.S. Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, images of signatures, and personal health documents.

System Interference or Abuse

Do not abuse this product and do not harm, degrade, or negatively affect the operation of networks, devices, or other infrastructure of Google or others. This includes degrading, disabling, or negatively interfering with any aspect of the product or its services. We may take appropriate action if we are notified of system interference and abuse, which may include removing access to some of our products or disabling your Google Account.

Sensitive Data in Google Wallet

In Google Wallet, developers who issue Passes to you may be displaying potentially sensitive user data within Google Wallet such as facial images, names or other categories of personal information. Please be careful about who you are showing such data to. The use of sensitive data for purposes other than the intended purpose of the Pass is prohibited.

Passes Created from Images

In Google Wallet, you will be able to create a pass from an image from your device (also known as “Passes Created from Photos"). We expect you to use and engage with such Passes in a responsible, legal manner. To this end, you must not use such passes to perform or facilitate dangerous, illegal, or malicious activities, including the categories listed above.

Health Passes

In Google Wallet, you may add convenient evidence of health-related information (“Health Passes”) from eligible healthcare entities such as hospitals or health insurance providers. Examples of Health Passes include vaccination, test results or health insurance cards. You may only use the Health Passes for valid use cases (e.g. where proof of vaccination is required). Specifically, the following use cases are prohibited:

  • Falsification or modification of Health Passes by a user to facilitate a transaction or to gain access to venues or provision of services.
  • Misrepresentation of Health Passes through the taking of another user’s Health Passes to facilitate a transaction or gain access to venues or provision of services.

Digital Car Keys

In Google Wallet, users may have access to Digital Car Keys to gain access to their cars. You may not use the Digital Car Key for any illegal activity or activities not authorized by the original owner of the car (e.g. unauthorized use of Digital Car key to access or operate the car).

What happens if you violate our policies

Use of the Google Wallet and any related accounts may be suspended if Google determines if you have committed several violations or a serious violation of the User Policy. Any related accounts may also get permanently suspended and you may not be allowed to open a new account.

We may also report any illegal activity or suspected illegal activity in accordance with applicable laws.
