The FRANCISCAN MISSIONARY GROUP ZAMBIA 2000 was set up in August 1984 after an initial community experience in Zambia. Group because we don’t operate single-handedly but we strive to proceed together, each donating his or her own talents, sharing experiences and meeting to pray and organise the different activities. Missionary because a Christian has before all else to be a Christian. He or she has to open up to brothers and sisters near and far. This is what we are trying to realise on a daily basis. Franciscan because it was P. Tarcisio Raimondo (a friar) who opened up the road for us, because we meet up in Franciscan parishes and because we work with Franciscan missionaries. Zambia 2000 because Zambia was the country that the Lord put in the midst of our road. In 1984 and 2000 it seemed so far away and with this definition we meant to say “for ever and ever” and now that 2000 is some time in the past we know that it merely represented a step. VINTAGE FOR CHILDREN This evening we intend to raise a well at the Da Gama Mission which will allow the Mission to cultivate the land with 35 mothers and grandmothers who will be using the harvest for their families by selling it at the market to buy fertilisers and anything else deemed necessary. http://www.zambia2000.it/
