LINCOLN COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — High water closed schools in Lincoln County on Wednesday on what was supposed to be the first day of school.
Route 3 heading toward Hamlin was impassible in some spots where flooding was causing headaches.
The Duval Volunteer Fire Department rescued a woman and her kids from a home that was flooding. The woman told Eyewitness News she was grateful for the assistance in the emergency situation.
Some firefighters reported that some drivers were traveling through flooded roadways.
“I almost got hit this morning trying to move a firetruck because somebody was coming through water and not paying attention,” Firefighter Tamika Keeling said.
