Refurbishment work on the Cozy Cone Motel sign at Cars Land in Disney California Adventure has concluded. The indicator was able to show off its freshened appearance sans scaffolding and scrim on August 24.
Cozy Cone Motel Sign
Refurbishment work took place on the sign throughout the month of August. It was entirely hidden from view early in the month, surrounded by scrim that featured an illustration of the sign against a bright background that aimed to replicate its normal appearance from a distance.
We noticed that the scrim was removed a few days ago and the sign was again visible, but it was still surrounded by scaffolding.
The sign’s neon lights were also not present when the scrim was removed, indicating that they have been re-added within the last few days.
It’s not known whether the sign is an updated and refurbished version of the previously present indicator or is entirely new. It does have a fresh appearance, however, looking bolder and more pristine when compared to the previous sign coloring that had grown a bit washed out. Included below is a photo from November of last year.
The Cozy Cone Motel is a dining location at Cars Land in Disney California Adventure. Modeled after Sally’s roadside motel as seen in Pixar’s popular “Cars” franchise, the Cozy Cone Motel offers quick meals and desserts both sweet and salty. The location offers seasonal and specialty treats throughout the year, with churros being both a menu mainstay and a dessert that the restaurant frequently experiments with. The Cozy Cone Motel has also offered festive meals and seasonal alcoholic beverages in the past.
Cars Land at Disney California Adventure
Cars Land opened at Disney California Adventure in 2012 as part of an over $1 billion park expansion. Its marquee attraction is Radiator Springs Racers, a ride that utilizes a similar technology to Test Track in EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort. Radiator Springs Racers opened in 2012 alongside Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Flying Tires, the latter of which closed in 2015 to make way for Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, which remains open at the land to this day.
Cars Land receives two intricately-themed holiday overlays each year. “Haul-O-Ween” takes over the park each autumn, with initial decorations for the overlay being added earlier this month. During the Halloween season, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree becomes Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree while Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters transforms into Luigi’s Honkin Haul-O-Ween. The festive versions of these attractions run from September 1 to October 31 this year.
Cars Land receives another overlay during the holiday season. Around Christmas, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters again receive holiday refreshes, this time turning into Mater’s Jingle Jamboree and Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl, respectively.
