Ship List

This is an identification list for the ships of Homeworld 3, based on current screenshots and gameplay video. At the present time, I am only including ships that have appeared in the game engine; I am not including ships that appear in concept art unless they have also appeared in-game.

General Notes

On Fighters: it appears in the UI from the Kesura Oasis trailer that fighters are once again individual units like in the original Homeworld, as opposed to squadrons in Homeworld 2. The costs listed below appear to be per individual craft. It also appears that the hotkey groups also have some of the "strike group" behavior from Homeworld 2, with formation and aggression settings.

On Megaliths: Homeworld 3 includes a lot of space terrain, including space stations, hyperspace gates, large scale debris and other megaliths. I'll only try to classify these objects where such information is available; otherwise I am assuming that they are just terrain and not functional units.

Resourcer

Notes: Can capture enemy ships as well as collect resources.

Resource Controller

Notes: Can dock four resourcers on the underside.

Assault Frigate

"Effective against capital ships."

Torpedo Frigate

Notes: This ship is identified as a "Torpedo Frigate" in the Collector's Edition descrption, but it may instead be called the "Missile Frigate."

Ion Cannon Frigate

Notes: The Ion frigate is identified in several concepts and has been seen in-engine in this lineup screenshot, but I haven't seen it since, nor any other ion beams at all. The very similar Railgun Frigate (see below) has been seen instead. It's possible that they're both still in the game, or that one has been replaced by the other. They're so similar that if they are both still in the game, I'd guess that one might be an upgrade of the other.

Railgun Frigate

Notes: I have the feeling that this is a replacement for the Ion Cannon Frigate. It's extremely similar both in appearance and role.

Destroyer

Carrier

Notes: This is the new version of the Hiigaran carrier; the earlier version has been re-designated as the Kalan Raiders' capital ship.

Mothership

Notes: The "Khar Kushan" bears the distinctive 15th Fleet insignia, and appears to house the three hyperspace cores visible on the topside aft. The mothership has mobile turrets that move along the four tracks on the top side.

Notes: Going back to the abandoned early versions of Homeworld 2, the development team toyed with the idea of having deployable turrets that could be placed on megalith structures, but their efforts were frustrated and abandoned. It looks like they're trying again in Homeworld 3, and it will be interesting to see what success (if any) they find this time around.

Kalan Raiders

Notes: The Kalan Raiders are introduced in the Kesura Oasis trailer, in which they attack a Hiigaran patrol. The ships they use look similar to the Hiigaran types, but this may not be story-relevent.

Notes: This model used to be the Hiigaran carrier, but it is now being used for the raiders.

Unknown Fighter 1

Notes: Glimpsed in the First Look trailer. Some kind of fighter or corvette. Don't read too much into the red color scheme: there are a number of Hiigaran vessels in the first trailer with the same red color scheme, which may just be player teamcolors.
