Hughenden Manor

Hughenden Manor is one of the smaller manor houses owned by the National Trust and was once the home of Benjamin Disraeli. It was also used as a base by the RAF during the Second World War. There is an exhibition about this in the basement of the Manor House and in the Ice House. There are only about a dozen rooms open in the manor house but there’s also a dressing up room full of costumes for the kids.

What can you do at Hughenden Manor National Trust?

In the gardens, there are the formal gardens with lots of places to explore as well as some beehives. There’s a small wooded area if you want to feel like you’ve been to the woods without having to walk too much. On the way from the car park to the house, there’s a nice little wild play trail which includes a massive wooden sculpture of a plane.

Make sure you explore the kitchen gardens. They’re very child-friendly and have lovely little touches like bug hotels, scarecrows, a willow tunnel network and a small spotting trail. Can you find the resident Welly Dog?? The kids can borrow a little wheelbarrow as well.

Within the wider estate, you’ve either got some walks around the parkland (where you might spot some cows and sheep) or there’s a beautiful woodland to explore as well. Just one word of warning, High Wycombe is very hilly and it can be muddy in places too. That’s not always the best combination!

There is a tea shop and a cafe on site. Plus a large picnic area.

£15.00 standard entry for an adult or £7.50 for a child. Under 5’s are free.

When are they open?

Hughenden Manor is open for most of the year and is closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. For up-to-date opening times and dates please visit their website.

Dog friendly?

You can walk around the Manor’s four gardens, picnic in the orchard, enjoy the parkland and visit the Stableyard Café. The only place we can’t allow dogs is inside; in the Manor house or our two Cafes.
