Football 11/9/2024 7:46:48 PM UW-Platteville Secures Share of Football Title PLATTEVILLE, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Platteville secured at least a share of the 2024 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) football championship with a 56-14 victory over UW-Eau Claire at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium on Nov. 9. The title is the 15th in program history and first since the 1980 campaign. UW-Platteville (8-1 overall, 5-1 WIAC) can claim the title outright with a victory over UW-Stout on Nov. 16. UW-La Crosse (6-3, 4-2), UW-Oshkosh (6-3, 4-2) and UW-Stout (6-3, 4-2) can earn a piece of the championship with a win over the Pioneers. UW-La Crosse (6-3, 4-2) and UW-Oshkosh (6-3, 4-2) can also grab a share of the title with a win in their remaining game and a loss by the Pioneers. Against UW-Eau Claire (2-7, 1-5), UW-Platteville racked up 577 yards of total offense enroute to its second-highest point total this season. Michael Priami completed 21-of-29 passes for 334 yards and six touchdowns – the second-highest single-game mark in program history. Ryan Doherty and Brandt Stare each had three touchdown receptions. Doherty had 129 receiving yards on seven receptions, while Stare hauled in six catches for 115 yards. Stare broke two program career records in the contest – Jason Leonard’s (1999-2003) 218 receptions and Matt Kent’s (2000-03) 2,958 receiving yards. He also moved into the top spot in the WIAC record book, passing UW-Whitewater’s Jake Kumerow’s career record of 36 receiving touchdowns from 2012-14). Stare now holds UW-Platteville records with 37 career touchdowns, 221 career receptions and 2,974 career receiving yards. UW-Platteville’s Logan Drone finished with a game-high seven tackles, including one sack. UW-Eau Claire’s Harry Roubidoux completed 16-of-23 passes to bring his career total to 653 completions. That broke the 34-year old mark of 645 set by John Clark (1987-90). Isaac Garside had four catches for 50 yards and one touchdown, while JP Wolterstorff, Brady Hoffner and Landon Wesloh each had six tackles for the Blugolds. # # # # #
