Clay County Medical Center gives construction updates on new facility
CLAY CENTER, Kan. (WIBW) - The Clay County Medical Center (CCMC) is providing updates on its ongoing construction project, designed to expand and improve its facilities.
The construction of the new addition to Clay Center Family Physicians (CCFP) has reached significant milestones.
Exterior framing is well underway, establishing the structural framework for the expansion. The installation of exterior sheathing is set to begin soon, while wood blocking in window openings and parapet areas is being prepared to support the upcoming roofing installation.
In the weeks ahead, the focus will shift to enclosing the building, marking a critical step toward preparing for interior work. Roofing and exterior weatherproofing will also commence, ensuring the structure is sealed for further progress.
Temporary walls will be installed in the existing reception area to connect the new addition to the current building, and interior framing for the new spaces will begin soon.
In addition to the building addition, significant progress has been made in improving accessibility at the Emergency Department entrance. Foundations for a new ADA-compliant ramp have been formed and poured, laying the groundwork for a more inclusive and convenient entryway.
The next phase will focus on completing the sidewalks and the ADA ramp, further enhancing accessibility for all patients and visitors.
“We are thrilled to see our vision for these facility upgrades coming to life,” said Austin Gillard, CEO of Clay County Medical Center. “These projects not only allow us to better serve our patients today but also ensure we’re equipped to meet the evolving needs of our community for years to come. We appreciate the community’s continued support and patience during this exciting period of growth.”
