Chop in GTA 5

Chop is originally owned by Lamar Davis and later for most of the story, moves in with Franklin at his Vinewood Hills house. Chop is a dog of the Rottweiler breed.

Lamar brings Chop on a mission to kidnap the Ballas gang member D. When D gets away on foot, Lamar and Franklin use Chop’s sense of smell to track down D. The player can switch to Chop during this period. Franklin then stops Chop from humping a male dog.

They track down D with Chop’s help and get him into the van. However, they are forced to release D when Lamar risks revealing their location. Later on, Chop spawns at Franklin’s safehouse as Lamar asks Franklin to take care of him for a while.

Chop also appears in the mission Hood Safari where a deal between Franklin, Lamar and Trevor, and the Ballas gang goes sideways and turns into a gunfight. Franklin orders Chop to go back home and Chop runs away. He next appears in the mission Predator where he helps Franklin locate Elwood O’neil who is hiding in the woods.

Chop is a black and brown Rottweiler and has a green buckle around his neck. He is found sitting at his doghouse in Franklin’s house for most of the game. He can be taken for walks, petted, played fetch with and can also be taken on a drive. If another person enters a vehicle while Chop is already in the front seat, Chop will get out of the car and go home. He will not enter the backseat of the car or the carrier of a truck/van.

When Chop’s happiness level is low, he will take some time to respond to Franklin calling him, and if his happiness level is high he will immediately run to Franklin and even stand on two legs in excitement. He can then also perform tricks upon Franklin’s request.

If Chop is on a walk with Franklin and Franklin is attacked by someone, Chop will attack them which can sometimes also lead to a two-star wanted level.

1. If a grenade is thrown by Franklin while taking Chop on a walk, Chop will run and try to fetch the grenade, resulting in Chop’s death or him being seriously injured.

3. The PS4 controller’s light and character wheel background color will switch to red when "playing" as Chop.
