Motivation
[edit]Sorry if I screwed this up (I am quite new here). Helveticat is the categorization system for the Swiss National Library (Q201787), which is useful for publications, including books and newspapers, related to Switzerland. PARAKANYAA (talk) 06:52, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

- Conditional support Maybe the identifier format should contain also "sz" other than digits to better keep the URI integrity? Anyway, I support it. --Luca.favorido (talk) 06:00, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Luca.favorido I'm going to be honest I am very new here so I was unsure of how to format the identifier format. Apologies! Feel free to modify. PARAKANYAA (talk) 06:33, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the property proposal @PARAKANYAA and welcome to our community. :-)
- I ping the other supporters just to be sure they are not against to have also "sz" in the identifier. @ArthurPSmith @Mfchris84 @AnBuKu @Jahl de Vautban. Thanks and have a great day! --Luca.favorido (talk) 18:34, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- no prob here AnBuKu (talk) 18:39, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- Fine as well, I assumed that was already the case since they were the values given in the examples. --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 19:00, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- Ok with me. ArthurPSmith (talk) 21:02, 17 July 2024 (UTC)

- @Mfchris84, ArthurPSmith, AnBuKu, Jahl de Vautban, Luca.favorido, PARAKANYAA: Done as Helveticat ID (P12899). Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 06:42, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- @ZI Jony Could you account for the change with the sz in front of the identifier, so it can match/link to the url? This was proposed later but I find I agree with it. PARAKANYAA (talk) 06:51, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- @PARAKANYAA: done. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 07:40, 19 July 2024 (UTC)

- Support. This system number is not a Swiss speciality. The US Library of Congress has defined it for the MARC format field 035: https://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd035.html . So I dont know if it's usefull to define it here only for the Swiss national library with the prefix sz or to define it internationally. Independent from that I suggest to call the ID System Control Number according to the naming by the Library of Congress and the Swiss national library (in German: Systemkontrollnummer). See field 035: https://ead.nb.admin.ch/web/marc21/dmarcb01x-09x.htm (in German) --Hadi (talk) 07:43, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
