artists

[edit]

According to the proposal this is an identifier or artists in the collection" "We would like to leverage and query the existing data in WD with artists in our collection. We've also been working to enhance and create WD records for around 200 African American artists such as Evangeline Montgomery and Margo Humphrey and would like to connect those records with our collection/data. " I will change the description to reclect that. Please undo if this is not only about artists in the collection. --Hannolans (talk) 19:04, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Creator or Subject

[edit]

This identifier is used for both creators whose works are in the museum, as well as subjects depicted in works. It does not imply that the museum has works created by the individual. --EncycloPetey (talk) 14:46, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure? On https://www.philamuseum.org/collections/search.html you can only fin 'Artist / Maker beginning with:'. When adding the id, for example 4334, the website displays Artist/Maker's Name: Johann Moritz Edlinger. Is there an example that it displays the person depicted? For example the subject should be 'Carl Christian Vogel von Vogelstein' for https://www.philamuseum.org/collections/permanent/9781.html?mulR=1858314646%7C1 but that person is not a link nor id, while he is in the collection as 4739 So it seems that the id is only for the creator. --Hannolans (talk) 19:50, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am sure. That is why I posted. --EncycloPetey (talk) 20:06, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please give an example link as I can't see how that should work. See the example of Carl Christian Vogel von Vogelstein. --Hannolans (talk) 18:37, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, as per this edit, the Roman poet Virgil has ID 1343. However, Virgil created no works of art and is only the subject of several works in the collection. He is not the creator of any of those works. --EncycloPetey (talk) 14:34, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
But this id gives no results in the corresponding link: https://www.philamuseum.org/collections/results.html?searchTxt=&bSuggest=1&searchNameID=1343 give 'no result' so this is a wrong id or the external identifierlink is wrong defined. --Hannolans (talk) 14:53, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Did you read the IDs proposal? It sounds as though you did not. Please read the original proposal to find the answer to your question. --EncycloPetey (talk) 15:01, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, in the proposal is written '"We would like to leverage and query the existing data in WD with artists in our collection.',. It is also obvious you can also see that the website declares the ID as 'Artist / Maker' and you can see that 'Carl Christian Vogel von Vogelstein' while he in the collection as depicted as well as a creator, only as a creator gives results. Again, can you please show an example of an id of a depicted person resulting in a working external link that proofs that it is an id for depicted persons and not for creators only. --Hannolans (talk) 00:59, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Did you read the part about many IDs not yet having functioning pages? Please demonstrate that the IDs that do not connect to an existing page are incorrect. Please also explain why you think that the IDs are exclusively those of artists. Nothing in the proposal nor in your comments demonstrates this. you have made a unilateral assumption without asking the people who proposed and set up the property. What makes you think you understand the property better than the people who proposed it? --EncycloPetey (talk) 01:41, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Formatter URL broken

[edit]

I have deprecated the formatter URL (P1630) because it doesn't seem to work (any more), and I cannot readily see how to fix it. Bovlb (talk) 20:22, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe we can fix it using an archive? --Marsupium (talk) 21:49, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

format constraint (Q21502404): why does format as a regular expression (P1793) has a VERTICAL LINE? It should be removed (\d+).
