Hélène Mannarino (born 17 July 1990) is a French journalist, television and radio presenter. Passioned very early by the field of media and journalism, she did several internships in radio stations and national television channels. She appeared for the first time on screen as a columnist in 2014 on channel France Ô before joining C8.
In 2018, she joined the TF1 Group and became presenter for the program Appels d'urgence on TFX. In parallel, she presented several columns on the channel LCI and the radio station Europe 1.
Early life and education
Hélène Mannarino was born in Valenciennes in the department of Nord,[1] and grew up in the town of Saint-Saulve.[2] She is of Italian descent.[3] At the age of 10, she became passioned by journalism, and notably taking for model Marc-Olivier Fogiel. She even joined the audience of the program On ne peut pas plaire à tout le monde.[4] She studied in Valenciennes at the Saint-Jean Baptiste middle school and the Notre-Dame high school.[5] She did her middle school internship at the redaction of the regional daily newspaper La Voix du Nord.[6]
She began her training course with a communication degree in Lille, and then a history degree at the Charles de Gaulle University. She made her second year at distance, being at the same time an intern at the radio station RTL. She met Jean-Michel Apathie who collaborated with the station and allowed her to join in 2011 the staff of Le Grand Journal as an intern for six months. In parallel, she joined the IEJ (European Institute of Journalism) but ended the classes after having been hired as an assistant for the program La Nouvelle Édition. She made a validation des acquis and obtained the master's degree.[1][2][4][6][7]
Television career
She appeared for the first time on screen in 2014 as a columnist for the program Le Lab.Ô on France Ô. Her column was titled Les Scoops d'Hélène.[1][4][8] She then joined in 2015 the staff of Le Grand 8 on D8 to present a column titled La semaine d'Hélène.[1][5] In September 2016, she stayed on the same channel, that changed name into C8 in the meantime, and became a columnist for the program Il en pense quoi Camille ? presented by Camille Combal.[9] In an interview accorded to Télé 7 Jours, she stated that it stopped for her when the program got into a more entertaining appearance, that she left in very good terms and it was only her expectations that were different.[1]
In 2017, she arrived at the TF1 Group on channel LCI, where she presented from Monday to Friday a column titled Carte blanche, that she resumed in an interview accorded to Télé 7 Jours, that she receives several guests a day from the cultural field, and they talk together for 15 minutes about their news and their promotion. In early 2019, her column Carte blanche ended on LCI. In replacement, she participates at La Matinale on the same channel. Since September 2021, she became a co-host of La Matinale.
In September 2018, she began presenting the reportage program Appels d'urgence on TFX.[10][11] In late 2020, she presents Rétroscopie on TMC, a program that imagines an interview of a celebrity in the future.[8][12]
During summer 2021, she presents several episodes on prime time on TF1 of Le Grand Quiz, a program that allows the audience to test their knowledge on several precise themes.[13]
Radio career
In August 2019, she made her debut on radio on the station Europe 1, presenting from Monday to Friday in the morning Le Portrait inattendu, a column from the breakfast program Culture médias.[7][8][14][15]
Personal life
Hélène Mannarino has a brother who is a physiotherapist and two sisters, one a teacher and the other in human resources. Her father works with foster children and her mother is engaged in politics.[2][5]
Her father was diagnosed with cancer, which led her engage herself at the Curie Institute.[2]
