Welcome to Wikipedia. Please be aware of Wikipedia's policy that biographical information about living persons must not include unsupported or inaccurate statements. Whenever you add possibly controversial statements about a living person to an article or any other Wikipedia page, as you did to Gílson Paulo, you must include proper sources. If you don't know how to cite a source, you may want to read Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners for guidelines. Thank you. GiantSnowman 09:31, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Salif Sané may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Hi there MonFrontieres, AL from Portugal here,
don't know why you NEVER write in the titles of the references in your articles, as it's very easy, but that's another matter. My main reason to write you now is this one: please don't add FACEBOOKS or TWITTERS or similar as refs to articles (or as links), this is an encyclopedia.
Thanks, happy editing --AL (talk) 15:02, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- There, i have already helped and added a new source for his int'l debut. Cheers --AL (talk) 15:07, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- Viewed.--MonFrontieres (talk) 18:16, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- Even though NFT.com says Kily Álvarez made his debut in 2008, you continue to change it to 2007. But please listen, the fact that he was selected for that match in May 2007 (in the ref you added) does not mean he made his debut there, he could have only gained his first cap the following year.
You know what, i GIVE UP, you want 2007 (or even another year), fine by me! --AL (talk) 01:57, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- Well, he was not called only in May 2007, also in November of that year,[1] friendly against Niger (appears in FIFA calendar). Okay, missing line-ups and substitutions that Equatorial Guinea has presented in the matches which Kily was called in 2007. In my opinion, it is likely that he played minutes in some of these three matches. Additionally, there is an interview in which 2007 is mentioned as the year of his arrival to the team, but does not clarify on the date of their first match, but there is no sign of 2008.[2] --MonFrontieres (talk) 02:43, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- I repeat, out of respect for your work, we'll leave it in 2007. Happy week --AL (talk) 13:17, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- Why revert Raúl Fabiani 12-13 stats? I don't sell smoke, but I see references like this: [3] and his current last match played with Equatorial Guinea was against Congo DR in Kinshasa.--MonFrontieres (talk) 23:03, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- I reverted it because i did not notice you added the PC update. Sorry, happy editing. --AL (talk) 18:18, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Gevaro Nepomuceno for Curaçao
Thanks for the heads-up! Do you know if he played in both matches? Or is there any site where I could search myself? Soccerway and Transfermarkt don't display his caps and goals. Cheers! 8Dodo8 (talk · contribs) 11:45, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
- Well, I saw that in 2014 Caribbean Cup qualification#Group 4 another Wikipedian uploaded the Curaçaoan scorers and put the Nepomuceno's name. Also, his name appears here: http://www.notisia360.com/korsou-ta-empata-2-2-ku-puerto-rico/ Thank you.--MonFrontieres (talk) 23:03, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
- I've found the official site of Curacao's national team (http://www.ffk.cw/). They also have a facebook page and I've seen Gevaro in the starting lineup against Puerto Rico. So he has 2 matches and 1 goal until now. See you around! 8Dodo8 (talk · contribs) 12:01, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello again, from Portugal (I was formerly user AlwaysLearning),
since you are an expert on Equatoguinean football, can you please arrange a reliable source that says he was capped for his country at senior level? His brother is indeed an international, but I checked NATIONAL-FOOTBALL-TEAMS.COM and found nothing for Jacinto.
Thanks in advance, happy weekend --84.90.219.128 (talk) 02:17, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
- No reply? Sorry for bothering you. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 03:17, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
Don't know what do you think I have done to you, but I don't think there is the need to apologize because my conscience is clear. I highlighted your user name so that you would be aware of the WP:FOOTY discussion, you did not participate there as well. OK, I have removed the caps in Mr. Elá's box, case closed, goodbye (will not bother you anymore) --84.90.219.128 (talk) 23:04, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- People related to Equatorial Guinean football, who helped me with the informations, told me that he doesn't remember very well what matches he played. They only assured me that he had disputed with the U23 national team in the 2008 CAF Men's Pre-Olympic Tournament, from September 2006 to March 2007. He was probably with seniors in the 2006 matches of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations qualification, according he has said in a previous interview, but no information if he had minutes against Liberia or Cameroon.[8]--MonFrontieres (talk) 01:43, 6 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi MonFrontieres, I see you're active editing List of naturalised Equatoguinean international football players. Thank you for all the time you're investing in Wikipedia. Of one the recent edits I have some questions. I see you stated that Oluwatobiloba Windapo 9 April and of Ruth Sunday on 16 August are neutralized players involved in an age scandal. However I can't find a reference that goalkeeper Ruth Sunday and defender Oluwatobiloba Windapo are playing under the name Lucía Andeme Micha Mbengono and Susana Angono Ondo Oyana as you wrote. Can you please say how you know this? As this are harmfull statments, it must be deleted when not a proper reference is given. Thank you, Sander.v.Ginkel (Talk) 21:06, 13 December 2016 (UTC)
- I know of this issues thanks to independent Equatorial Guinean journalists like Marcos Edjo (currently offline) or Delfín Mocache (owner of DiarioRombe.es website), who have known for years what were happening in their country's football. They investigated and denounced it first and shared some of these informations in their respective websites and weblogs, in Spanish because they are not an English-speaking country. So I contacted them and I could see some links, photos captured from social networks and comparative photos of the players they were denouncing. I'm convinced they are right about all these football players. They talked me about their national politics and the way of thinking and behaviour of their leaders in general, and in this specific case, in football.--MonFrontieres (talk) 21:55, 13 December 2016 (UTC)
I have deleted List of naturalised Equatoguinean international football players. If you continue to add BLP violations to Wikipedia, you will be blocked. Your assertions may be right or not, but without very good sourcing for it (not Instagram and Facebook accounts, hearsay, and a game of connect-the-dots) it is totally inadmissible here. Fram (talk) 08:12, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
I have also removed some other BLP violations you made (all Eq. Guinea women players). If you know of any other similar edits you made, please list them here so that we can deal with them. Fram (talk) 08:52, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

Reïna-Flor Okori at Rio

List of foreign La Liga players
Hi, Thanks for improving the List. Romano Sion played as a dutch footballer, in many places is refered as it. Is like Jorge Alberto Mendonça, born in Angola, known as a portuguese player but not capped for Portugal. The same vital histories like capped players Deco or Davids. --Zigurat (talk) 21:57, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
- Romano Sion played as a Dutch player because he was born in Suriname when it was a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.--MonFrontieres (talk) 23:33, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
- Jorge Alberto Mendonça was born in the Portuguese Angola and left before independence so he could not be an Angolan citizen but a Portuguese. But both of them are not of White race (from Dutchmen and Portuguese respectively) evidencing they actually had roots where they were born (specially Mendonça, as Sion descends from African slaves).--MonFrontieres (talk) 23:40, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
- Please, reply at my User talk page. Sion played as a dutch player even Suriname was an independent country. This is not a questions of races, there is only a race, the human race. We have to argue which nationality uses as a player. --Zigurat (talk) 16:43, 31 August 2017 (UTC)

Adolfo Hirsch
Hello, you created this article a few years ago. Why was he put in various Jewish categories? Is there any evidence that he is Jewish? I also posted this on Talk:Adolfo_Hirsch. 173.63.40.84 (talk) 20:07, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
- User:Delotrooladoo (now a blocked user) was the one who has put the "Jewish Argentine sportspeople" category. In my original edit, I only had put he is "of Jewish descent" because the surname is Ashkenazi, but there are not sources he is in fact Jewish.--MonFrontieres (talk) 01:05, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
Matko Miljevic
Hello! I have a question about your edits on the Matko Miljevic article, just for clarification on my part. Is Miljevic eligible for Bosnia? I read the FIFA eligibility rules that you listed and it seems to be the case, but I was wondering does Banja Luka's history not change things? Given it wasn't, officially anyway, Bosnia's "territory" at the time of Miljevic's grandfather's birth? I don't have a clue when it comes to these things, hence why I'm asking for a bit of clarity - I'm assuming you're correct. I'm also unable to find a source to state his Bosnia possibilities, despite a number mentioning the other three nations. R96Skinner (talk) 21:20, 4 October 2019 (UTC)

Red-link categories
Per WP:REDNOT, you should not leave red links to categories on any Wikipedia item you create, such as Category:Bissau-Guinean expatriate sportspeople in Armenia. And more generally, you should think about whether such categories represent WP:OVERCATEGORISATION, or whether you would be better off adjusting the daughter articles to use a simple expatriate category. A good category should have 30+ members, sports editors in particular tend to overcategorise.Le Deluge (talk) 18:04, 14 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi, MonFrontieres
Hi, MonFrontieres is awesome your work in Wikipedia, I am also interesested in women sport articles and I noticed that you created very useful articles relaten to mexican women players, I would ask you to help me creating the articles of the coaches in Liga MX Femenil because most of them remains updated, also players such as Alejandra Gutiérrez, Ana Gabriela Paz, Estefanía Fuentes, Jaqueline Rodríguez, Daniela Solís, Evelyn González, Angeles Martínez, Wendy Toledo, Laura Parra, Julieta Peralta, Karla Zempoalteca, Joseline Montoya, Mariel Román, Andrea Hernández and Montserrat Hernández whose has participated in U-20 World Cup, deserve their own article. I would appreciate a lot your help. Greetings! 144.29.129.35 (talk) 17:53, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
- Hi. I create articles for association football players who have played at least once in a national team at senior level or have featured in a professional league (from listed here). If I create articles for Liga MX players who have not capped for Mexico at senior level nor have played matches in those professional leagues around the world, they might be put to be deleted by Wikipedia librarians. From the players you told me, I've only seen that Solís has played for Mexico in the past. I'll create her only. Thank you.--MonFrontieres (talk) 18:06, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

Empty and expand sections
Hi, Mon Frontieres.
May I ask you a question? I'm thinking of asking a veteran person.
As you may know, I am mainly editing the national team.
So the question is, the women's team still needs to be revised compared to the men's national team.
Therefore, while following the manual of the national team, I am adding missing sections etc., but due to my lack of English ability and lack of knowledge about Wikipedia, I am making a minimum addition, but if the editing is rough, I have twice so far It was pointed out by other users.
I think it's reasonable.
Do you think it's better not to add anything if you follow the manual completely but increase the Empty and Expand sections?
I'm trying to develop the article and take it in the right direction, but as a result, the quality of the wiki may be reduced.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.
BRICK93 (talk) 07:10, 19 September 2020 (UTC)
- @BRICK93: My advice would be the following:: For each section you add, try to provide at least one information about it and do so with a reliable source. For example, if you are creating the "History" section, mention at least one relevant event that happened to the team.--MonFrontieres (talk) 18:09, 19 September 2020 (UTC)

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Rico Henry, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:05, 19 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Mattythewhite:. Henry himself said he is 3/4 Jamaican and 1/4 Indian.[13][14] As they are not considered here as sources (even if the messages come from a verified account, like this case), I preferred to not cite the sources. I have googled "Rico Henry + Jamaican" and "Rico Henry + Indian", but I did not found any news commenting about his family background.--MonFrontieres (talk) 17:55, 19 September 2020 (UTC)

- @Mattythewhite:: I would like to do so, but I am not finding on the net that type of source. This I do not understand: When a BLP person makes a claim (and more than once!) from their verified account on a social network, we Wikipedians cannot do anything in their article because the social network is not a reliable source. We have to wait (how long?) for a journalist to echo those statements of the BLP person and publish them on a website that is considered a reliable source. And only then we can update the WP article. What if no journalist cares that Rico Henry is of Indian and Jamaican descent? Can we never add that to the player's WP article? Can we do a special interview to the player to him provide to us the data and use it as own source?--MonFrontieres (talk) 18:22, 19 September 2020 (UTC)

Your contributions to WOSO
Hi MonFrontieres :)
I saw you've been contributing a lot to WOSO articles, and thanks a lot (especially with the help on the recent Women's COSAFA tournament squads page). I just wanted to ask, if you are creating new articles, can you try to create more fleshed out articles (as opposed to short one line stubs)? The basic stub is up to 1.2-1.5 kb (you can count here). Thanks again for your contributions! --SuperJew (talk) 10:09, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi @SuperJew: I'm checking how many bytes I have created each article with and I still haven't seen any below 1,500 (they are all around 2,000). In principle, I create articles with the minimum and essential data and reliable sources to be approved (instead of erased) by the administrator on duty. And so, I collaborate with the objective of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Sports ("to turn red links into blue ones"). If I have more time and interest in the subject I edit, I can give more body to the article. Otherwise I move on to another task. Anyway, I do not abandon the articles that I create. I usually return to them sooner or later in case some information is out of date and then I update. Regards.--MonFrontieres (talk) 17:48, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- For example Isabelle Iliano is a two-line stub, with the size of 218 bytes. Please note that for classifying stubs, we count prose only, not including the infobox, references, templates, or categories. Perhaps you were looking at the history which does count those things automatically. --SuperJew (talk) 17:52, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- @SuperJew: Well, I'm going to see how to get to at least 1,200 bytes in the prose of each article, in principle without adding more sources than the minimum and essential ones that it originally has.--MonFrontieres (talk) 18:28, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- It's great to add more sources :D Personally, I think quality is preferable over quantity :) --SuperJew (talk) 18:30, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Mexican coaches
Hello MonFrontieres, first of all I want to congratulate you for your great contributions in wikipedia, I noticed that you are very active in articles related to women in soccer, so I would ask your help in creating the articles of the Mexican coaches that I consider deserve an article, these coaches are former soccer players and now have positions as coaches in Liga MX Femenil and the national team: Ana Cristina González, Ana Laura Galindo and Scarlett Anaya. I leave it at your consideration, I would really appreciate your help. Thank you and greetings! 189.139.58.202 (talk) 22:08, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- @189.139.58.202: Articles for Mexican female footballers can be created if they have appeared in a fully professional league or if they have capped for a senior women's national team (Mexico or other).--MonFrontieres (talk) 23:39, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- @MonFrontieres: (talk) In the case of Ana Cristina González and Ana Laura Galindo both have capped for the senior Mexican women's national team and participated in tournaments such as the CONCACAF Women's Championship. Here are some references: [1] [2]
A year in the results and fixtures
Hi, MonFrontieres. I know it because it was pointed out once before. I also think it's redundant to put the year in the match results. However, I recently added a new match schedule for the Japan Women's National Team. At that time, it was pointed out before, so I omitted the year. But soon after, User: Mr. Seany91 added a year. Even that person was previously told that it would be redundant to put individual years in the match results. So, if you look at the manual of the national team, the match year is entered individually, so I leave it as it is without asking the person named Seany for the reason. I don't know what to do when the decision is made. You can ask a question on the talk page of WikiProject Football, but I don't want to write because I can't convey the nuances well in English and I have to reply to everyone. What do you think of MonFrontieres? Thank you. BRICK93 (talk) 02:28, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
I don't want to write in English too much because it seems to be misunderstood. Because there are quite a few mistakes. I'm sorry... Thank you. BRICK93 (talk) 02:41, 21 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I believe you previously adjusted Luna's entry from Gevitz to Gewitz.
Gevitz is her passport name and the one that she now wants to use for football. It would be great if you could fix the title of the page (as I can't adjust in the "edit" function. Proof of the name is in her official national team entry: https://www.dbu.dk/landshold/landsholdsdatabasen/PlayerInfo/6788

I closed the discussion based on consensus that was supported by reliable sources. I cannot fix it as I was just the closer. You are going to have to request someone to request a page move as you are WP:CIO. — YoungForever(talk) 04:37, 24 February 2021 (UTC) Thanks, I don't disagree with your historic perspective. However, this has now changed (as a conscious decision) to reflect the player's wishes (and official documented name). Here are three current sources that reflect the correct spelling: 1) her current team page: https://bkhacken.se/spelare/luna-norgaard-gevitz 2) her current national team page: https://www.dbu.dk/landshold/landsholdsdatabasen/PlayerInfo/6788 3) her Soccerway (official football statistics) page: https://uk.women.soccerway.com/players/luna-gevitz/174687/
Bearing in mind that 2) and 3) are already listed as sources on her Wikipedia page, it would be great to see this updated.
There is no CIO in this request - it is just to reflect usage of public sources.

Formatting move requests
Hi. I just noticed the RM at Talk:France Billie Jean King Cup team#Requested move 17 April 2021. While it may be a bit tedious, it would be helpful to individually list all affected pages using the RM template, which will trigger the bot to post a notification on each of those pages, letting their watchers know of the discussion. In this case, editors of those other pages in the category which weren't individually listed may have been caught by surprise when the moves resulted from an RM they didn't know of. There doesn't seem to have been problems here, but please consider this next time. --Paul_012 (talk) 06:16, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Paul 012: No problem. Yes, in fact, I had valued doing that, but the context I found (both the tournament article and its related categories already renamed from 'Fed Cup' to 'Billie Jean King Cup') was what motivated me to make the rename request for the teams that way. It is a pity that when it was discussed to rename the main article (the tournament) they did not include in the discussion the involved teams as well. Anyway, I keep it in mind for more complex cases. Thank you.--MonFrontieres (talk) 15:19, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
Creation of former footballers articles
Hi Monfrontieres, I'm creating articles of former Mexican footballers who are now coaches and I wanted to ask you if you could help me in creating some of them, these are the following: Juan Manuel Rivera, Octavio Becerril, Luis Fernando Soto, Esteve Padilla, Luis Manuel Díaz, Martín Pérez Padrón, Félix Martínez Mendoza and Filadelfo Rangel.
It would be great and I would appreciate if you could help me in creating some of them.
SputnikXX (talk) 16:41, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
- @SputnikXX: Hello. Well, if they have played at least one match in at least one fully professional league (see the list here) or in a senior national team (the Mexican one or other), you can create them. See Template:Infobox_football_biography/doc#Managers_who_were_players. And use references (more than one), like national-football-teams.com, SoccerWay or news websites, to support the article content. Try to see the source code of a similar article to know how create these new ones. You can copy-paste that source, replacing the person data and references.--MonFrontieres (talk) 17:52, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi, MonFrontieres! I have a question. Can I just get rid of year from the Start date tag? Thank you. BRICK93 (talk) 01:14, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- @BRICK93: Do you mean e.g. {{start date| |02|24|df=y}} → "24 February"? I think that is not possible. To do that, it would first be necessary to create a statement asking if year is displayed or not (yes by default), e.g. {{start date|1993|02|24|df=y|year=no}} → "24 February".--MonFrontieres (talk) 01:38, 20 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I've already started adding some squads. If you could help it would be appreciated! Nehme1499 23:00, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Nehme1499: I'll be updating Algeria as I did (and still do) with Tunisia recently.--MonFrontieres (talk) 17:10, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- Nice. If you could find the missing positions, numbers and dates of birth, it would be great. Also clubs if you can reliably find them. Nehme1499 17:15, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- By the way, I personally wouldn't add "unknown" for players with unknown clubs. I think there is consensus throughout Wikipedia that unknown information should be left blank, and not tagged as "unknown". Nehme1499 17:48, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Nehme1499: Ok, I take note of that. Thank you.--MonFrontieres (talk) 17:50, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Ellouzi and Kaabachi
Here you say that "Ellouzi and Kaabachi are not with the team". Where did you find this information? Because Ellouzi scored today. Nehme1499 00:49, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Nehme1499: I had not seen them in the first two matches. Last Friday, Ellouzi's club Excelsior had posted a training photo featuring her. The same day, Kaabachi shared ASJ Soyaux anouncement of her signing for them. It could be Ellouzi joined the team for the third match.--MonFrontieres (talk) 00:57, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi there. "Offenburger FV" should not be piped (Vauvenargues Kehi). See WP:KARLSRUHER for details. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 14:59, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Robby.is.on: Oh, I did not know that. Could "Offenburg" be accepted (like "Lyon" for "Olympique Lyonnais")? There are no other football clubs called that.--MonFrontieres (talk) 19:29, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
- No, I wouldn't pipe the club. See the "Town and city names" section at WP:KARLSRUHER. Robby.is.on (talk) 07:58, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

Soccerway
Soccerway is unreliable for Norwegian women's football stats. This page creation introduced completely botched national stats and also the wrong notions of youth clubs versus senior clubs. When writing up Norwegian women's footballers in the future, please consult the source fotball.no (Template:NFF). A page like Soccerway is still needed for birthdate, position and (if applicable) foreign club spells, though. Geschichte (talk) 10:40, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Geschichte: Agree. I should have seen the football.no source. I already knew of its existence, but I trusted the other sources. I'll keep it in mind.--MonFrontieres (talk) 23:02, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
I saw you created the Trinidad player, there was just one more thing, "NM" is cup matches so can't be included in the infobox. Geschichte (talk) 21:31, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Geschichte: Ok, I did not know that. I will take note of that detail for next editions.--MonFrontieres (talk) 21:42, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

Hey MonFrontieres,
I think her given name, Cidália Cuta, might be the WP:COMMONNAME here. It's how I found her in articles like this and how she is already redlinked on a few Wiki pages. Also, "cidalia cuta mozambique" has 22k Google results and "ninika mozambique" has <400. Might wanna check it out. Cheers - JTtheOG (talk) 19:09, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
- @JTtheOG: She is from a Portuguese-speaking country (Mozambique) and in those nations (including Brazil and Portugal) sporting names are the common names. Her sporting name is Ninika, according her Mozambican club. That's the way she should be referred.--MonFrontieres (talk) 19:18, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
- Made redirects so any red-linking to her given name won't be a problem. MonFrontieres I suggest in general you make these redirects when creating articles such as these which have different names :) --SuperJew (talk) 07:56, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

autopatrolled
You have contributed many articles on athletes, and there have not been any difficulties with them. Consequently, as reviewing administrator, I have given you the WP:Autopatrolled user-right. It will make no visible difference to your editing, and gives you no special privileges, but it means that your new articles will no longer need to be reviewed by a new page patroller. This will make it easier for the new page patrollers such as myself to focus attention on the articles which are more likely to need it.
Congratulations on your consistently good work! DGG ( talk ) 07:46, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
- @DGG: Thank you for this distinction! I'll try to live up to it. I appreciate it very much. Regards.--MonFrontieres (talk) 20:52, 21 December 2021 (UTC)

ENGVAR and suchlike
Hello. Communicating by edit summary can only go so far... I removed the non-existent Use Barbadian English template as an aside to reverting the change of height format, a change which, given that Mr Pearce was British by birth, for the first ~30 years of his life, likely retains his British citizenship and his strong ties to that country, MOS:STYLEVAR would suggest is inappropriate. I've no objection to using Commonwealth English, which is what MOS:TIES says to use for articles with strong ties to a Commonwealth country (such as Barbados). For what it's worth, as TIES says, it's almost indistinguishable from British English.
Thanks for updating the international caps and fixing the longstanding error in the infobox. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:43, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
Sorry for reverting you there, I didn't notice one category said ″sportspeople″ while the other only said ″people″. My mistake. --TylerBurden (talk) 05:12, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
List of foreign La Liga players
Hello, yes, you are right. But note that all the players are considered with respect to the current borders. And special cases have added considerations. Ballina, are a spanish citizen born abroad considering the current borders. And that without considering that Spanish Guinea was a colony broken off from Spanish territory. Yes, he had "deputies" in a dictatorship, but he did not participate in the future of the country. For example, it did not participate in the Spanish leagues and the most obvious case, Spain allowed its independence (Impossible for any territory that is "considered Spanish"). I would keep Ballina and Jones with the addition that they were Spanish while they played. --Zigurat (talk) 20:30, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Zigurat: How about Alexandre Geijo? He does not appear in the Switzerland section despite he played La Liga matches and he has not represented Spain at any level.--MonFrontieres (talk) 21:22, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- I understand what you're saying and maybe you're right. I'll think about it. Thanks. --Zigurat (talk) 21:27, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
Category:Colombian people of Latin American descent
Hi – I see you have created the category Category:Colombian people of Latin American descent, which amused me a little, as by definition every Colombian with a Wikipedia article is of Latin American descent and should be included in this category. Obviously you are talking about other Latin American countries, I understand that – I just wondered if there was a better way of wording this category. Please don't take this as a complaint or an insult, because I really don't want to start an argument about this, and if this is the standard wording for this kind of category, that's fine, I'll leave it there and say no more. But you see where I'm coming from... Richard3120 (talk) 14:54, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Richard3120: Yes, I have seen where you are coming from. I have also seen that you live in the UK too. Well, there is also a category called "British people of European descent" and I have not created nor edited that one (Stevvvv4444 created it more than 13 years ago, and was edited by Bohemian Baltimore through the years). If you look that category talk page, you'll notice that its existence was never discussed. So, if such an old category cannot serve as a precedent to create a similar one, which one then? Regards.--MonFrontieres (talk) 22:30, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, like I said, if there's precedence for this type of naming, then no problem – Category:British people of European descent sounds just as bizarre to me. But I won't take this any further... maybe in the future there may be a CfD that bundles all of these cases together for discussion. Thanks. Richard3120 (talk) 22:43, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
Question about Maribel Domínguez
Hello, I noticed you have contributed a lot to Mexican women's football biographies, so I was wondering if you could help me with a discrepancy I had noticed. On the article of Maribel Domínguez, her given name is listed as Maribel Guadalupe. However, on the 1999 and 2011 FIFA squad lists, only the name Maribel is used. The same is also done in this 2003 WUSA profile. Searching using the name "Maribel Guadalupe Domínguez Castelán" gets a number of search results, including some Spanish-language news articles. Do you think "Guadalupe" is actually part of her name? It seems like it might be one of the cases where errors on Wikipedia are propagated to many other sources (Guadalupe seems to have been added by this edit from an IP in 2008, who in a following edit incorrectly changed her birthplace to Ciudad Juárez). Thanks, S.A. Julio (talk) 05:58, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
- @S.A. Julio: Per the Mexico NFT website[15][16] and government websites,[17][18] it does not look that Domínguez has a middle name.--MonFrontieres (talk) 18:56, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
- Great, thanks for the assistance! I've now corrected the article. Cheers, S.A. Julio (talk) 16:36, 20 June 2022 (UTC)

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Kenwyne Jones, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:11, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Mattythewhite: Send that same message to User:Kr17woso (talk) who created the 2022 CONCACAF W Championship squads and there created the section Trinidad and Tobago where he whote that Kenwyne Jones was the head coach and he did not source that.--MonFrontieres (talk) 20:43, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Mattythewhite: It was quite easy to find and source the information. You might want to try that next time and drop a nice note, instead of cautioning and templating an active contributing editor. --SuperJew (talk) 20:19, 18 June 2022 (UTC)

- I don't agree that article has British English. Reasons:
- The subject is a T&T national and he is not a naturalised citizen of the United Kingdom.
- The subject was born and raised in T&T. Lived effectively there until mid 2004 (aged 19) when he moved to England because of his playing career.
- The subject has represented T&T and has not represented England (or other UK country).
- The subject has returned to live in T&T near the end of his playing career and has stayed there since then.
It does not make sense that in article line 1 the "short description" template says the subject is Trinidadian (where English language is official) and then in line 2 the "Use (English-variant)" template says British instead of Trinidad and Tobago (which is the most appropriate in this case). There has to be a consistency.--MonFrontieres (talk) 00:04, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- What if Kenwyne Jones would have been American instead of Trinidadian, would you have insisted on using "British English"? Little Anglophone countries should be treated equally as the big ones.--MonFrontieres (talk) 00:31, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
I understand where you are coming from but it has nothing to do with "Little Anglophone countries" being treated unfairly. And yes, if the original article about an American soccer player was written in British English, I would expect it to remain that way permanently. Wikipedia has to have guidelines to maintain some level of consistency, or else there would be chaos. Having said that, it probably makes little or no practical difference – from reading the article on Trinidadian and Tobagonian English, it seems that there is no real difference between the two forms of English when written, and the differences are mainly in the spoken language. Best wishes. --Daemonickangaroo2018 (talk) 15:26, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- From what I understand, Trinbagonian people heights are measured in metres, not in feet and inches. MonFrontieres (talk) 22:43, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- You’re right, so I’ve amended that. Cheers.--Daemonickangaroo2018 (talk) 12:59, 20 June 2022 (UTC)

Adding "women" to teams in infoboxes
Why do you think that Clémentine Touré's infobox needs to show "Ivory Coast Women" and "Equatorial Guinea Women" rather than "Ivory Coast" and "Equatorial Guinea"? The text makes it clear that it's a women's team, and we wouldn't add "Men" for the managers of the male equivalent teams, so seems like a WP:BIAS to me. The only reason this would need clarifying is if someone manages both men's and women's teams, or maybe if the gender of teams they manage is not their gender (i.e. man managing women's team or vice versa). Joseph2302 (talk) 08:04, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Joseph2302: In that case, Corinne Diacre should have "Clermont Men" instead of "Clermont".--MonFrontieres (talk) 16:54, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Joseph2302: Because female association football managers are not restricted to coach women's teams and, at the same time, the entitles here for articles about national association football teams only add gender when they are women's, but not when they are men's (there are Equatorial Guinea women's national football team and Ivory Coast women's national football team, but there are not Equatorial Guinea men's national football team and Ivory Coast men's national football team).--MonFrontieres (talk) 17:10, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
