John Weidman (born September 25, 1946) is an American librettist. He is the son of librettist and novelist Jerome Weidman.[1]
He has written the book for many stage musicals, starting with the musical Pacific Overtures, collaborating with Stephen Sondheim, Take Flight with David Shire, Richard Maltby [2]and currently for the musical Bounce, again with Sondheim. He has been nominated for the Tony Award 3 times.
Since 1986, John Weidman has been a staff writer for Sesame Street, for which he has won numerous Emmy Awards.[3]
He is president of the Dramatists Guild of America.[4]
Weidman received a B.A. from Harvard University and a J.D. from Yale Law School.[4]
