This area of Calgary that Calgary-Acadia currently bounds has been returning Progressive Conservative candidates to the Alberta Legislature since 1971 with large majorities. The current incumbent who was elected to his first term in Calgary-Egmont in the 2008 general election after a controversial race against Craig Chandler is Jonathan Denis. He currently holds a ministerial portfolio in the government of Alison Redford as Solicitor General and Minister of Public Security.
