Single or Promotional Single?

Should "How It's Done" be considered (A) a single or (B) a promotional single? Fan4Life (talk) 16:36, 14 October 2019 (UTC)

• B - "How It's Done" hasn't been announced as being a single, Republic referred to it as a track, it was released along with the pre-order (as promotional singles often are), and it's not being pushed as a single. • A - Follow the sources, in addition to The Fader already used in the article, there are these as well - second single released from the new Charlie’s Angels soundtrack, second single from the official soundtrack has been released, another single from the soundtrack. I'm not finding any sources that refer to the song as a promotional single. "How It's Done" hasn't been announced as being a single, it appears to be an instant grat track/promotional single. Republic referred to it as a track,[1] it was released along with the pre-order (as promotional singles often are), and it's not being pushed as a single. It hasn't been added to any top playlists on Spotify or Apple Music (Today's Top Hits, Hot Hits, Today's Hits, etc.), it's not impacting radio, there's no music video, and it doesn't make sense for a song by four relatively unknown artists to have been chosen as a single. Media outlets rarely use the term "promotional single", they often just refer to any song released outside of a body of work as a single. The song being a single isn't a default that needs to be disproven, sources are needed for that too, but sources are going to be hard to find for this song as it's not getting much coverage due to how unknown the artists are. Republic calling it a track rather than a single indicates that it's a promotional single, as does it not being pushed as a single and it being released with the pre-order, which is how instant grat tracks/promotional singles tend to be released. Yes but the page originally had it listed as a single so a source/consensus is needed to change it. Calling a song a track doesn't make it a promotional single. Neither does being released along the pre-order. Taylor Swift's "YNTCD" was released with the Lover pre-order yet it's a single with radio adds and a music video. There's no more evidence for it being a single than it being a promotional single. I know music videos and radio impact aren't requirements for a single release, but whether a song is actually getting a proper single push is a good indicator of whether it's a single.
