Darur is a village in the southern state of Karnataka, India.[1][2] It is located in the Athani taluk of Belagavi district in Karnataka.
History of Darur: There are myths about the construction of village. The Rushi or Muni Druga is the founder of the village. Earlier it was covered by huge forest later on its open-up for agriculture, as water sources are plenty in this area.
Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census, Darur had a population of 5,244 with 2,669 males and 2,575 females. The village is well known by Krishna River and its flood prone area, historically this is famous for agriculture and animal husbandry.
Darur Grama Devate is Avva Ningavva and recently[3] from 2010 Shri Bhagyvanti Devi temple is famous and thousands of worshipers visit every Friday.
Education
Education as concern, primary education started late 50 decades, legends like Shri Basaprabhu Dhavaleshwar headed institution for long period; also he served as President of Belgaum district teachers association. in 1982 Government High school Started, and it is famous for quality and excellence in surrounding villages. more than 80% population is literates and adopted modern life style in routine life. three doctorates awarded in academically by name Dr. Shantinath Baloj, Professor of English, Dr Chidanand Dhavaleshwar, Assistant Professor of Social Work and Dr. Basavaraj Dalawai is about to award soon.
Agriculture
Agriculture is the main source of economy. Now the village is known for commercial crops such as, sugar cane, cotton, sunflower, and traditional crops like maize, soybean, rice, and wheat.[4]
