Usage

This template formats IPA transcriptions and links them to WP:IPA for Portuguese. The transcription should match the conventions of that key; for narrower dialect transcriptions, use {{IPA-all}}, which links to a more complete IPA key.

The first cell in the template is for the transcription, and a second optional cell is a switch that controls the lede. With no second value, the lede Portuguese pronunciation: appears:

  • {{IPA-pt|bo}}Portuguese pronunciation: [bo]
  • {{IPA-pt|bo|pron}}pronounced [bo]
  • {{IPA-pt|bo|lang}}Portuguese: [bo]
  • {{IPA-pt|bo|eu}}European Portuguese: [bo]
  • {{IPA-pt|bo|br}}Brazilian Portuguese: [bo]
  • {{IPA-pt|bo|IPA}}IPA: [bo]
  • {{IPA-pt|bo|}}[bo]

Any of these may be combined with a sound file in an optional third cell:

  • {{IPA-pt|bo|IPA|Pt-br-bo.ogg}}IPA: [bo]  ( listen)

For the default lede, however, a placeholder such as ‹-› is required in the second cell:

  • {{IPA-pt|bo|-|Pt-br-bo.ogg}}Portuguese pronunciation: [bo]  ( listen)
