Ben Raleigh (1913-1997) is lyricist responsible for a number of major hits, including "Dungaree Doll”, “Wonderful, Wonderful”, “She’s a Fool”, "Laughing on the Outside (Crying on the Inside)", “Love is a Hurtin' Thing” and “Tell Laura I Love Her”. Mr. Raleigh's songs were recorded by highly accomplished artists such as Eddie Fisher, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Aretha Franklin, Bobby Darin, Dinah Shore, Lou Rawls and others. "Tell Laura I Love Her" reached #1 in the UK in 1960. Mr. Raleigh's "Laughing on the Outside (Crying on the Inside)" peaked at #3 in the United States in 1946.

Mr. Raleigh composed the theme song to Scooby Doo, "Scooby-Doo, Where are you". Hanna-Barbera attempted to buy out Mr. Raleigh, but he famously declined and chose a royalty instead.

Mr. Raleigh died in a kitched fire in his home in Los Angeles in 1997. Mr. Raleigh was the brother of William Ware, an accomplished commercial artist responsible for a number of classic movie posters, including Roy Rogers westerns.
