From an earlier *žěrъ, likely a re-analyzed form of the s-stem Proto-Indo-European *gʷʰéros. Akin to Old Armenian ջեր (ǰer), Ancient Greek θέρος (théros), Vedic Sanskrit हरस् (háras)
