Etymology
Inherited from Old Ruthenian мѣ́сцо (mě́sco), from Old East Slavic мѣстьце (městĭce), мѣстце (městce), probably influenced by Polish miejsce, from Proto-Slavic *městьce, from *město (“place, town”) + *-ьce. Equivalent to мі́сто (místo) + -це (-ce).
