HENRY Co., Va. (WSET) -- The SPCA of Martinsville and Henry County paid their respects to the Petco Foundation with an adoption event. In January of 2015, the Petco Foundation awarded the SPCA with a $80,000 grant.
The money went towards their spay and neuter and program. The SPCA was able to neuter or spay over 1100 of the public animals, and almost 800 of the shelter animals.
Overall, they hope this will help reduce animal abuse and neglect.
Hannah Dehart, who does Development for SPCA of Martinsville said, "A lot of people want to be responsible pet owners, but its hard when the cost is so high for a regular spay and neuter. So when we can offer it to them at a discounted price, it really, really lends help to the community."
