The Running Event and Footwear News, a sister publication of WWD, have revealed an expanded partnership for 2024.
FN’s tie-up with the industry-leading run and outdoor specialty retail conference and trade show will include dynamic editorial content, comprehensive event coverage and engaging on-site activations at the event. TRE 2024 is scheduled to take place Nov. 19 to 21 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin.
“We’re thrilled to enhance our partnership with FN in 2024,” said Christina Henderson, event director, TRE. “FN’s industry expertise and reach will amplify TRE’s impact, providing tremendous value for our attendees and exhibitors in Austin.”
The partnership will yield extensive coverage before, during and after the event. FN will offer deep dives on running and outdoor specialty trends, industry leaders and TRE’s influence on the footwear market.

There will be an expanded on-site presence from FN at TRE 2024, with more details to come.
“The FN partnership with TRE is truly a game changer for specialty retail, the running community and the footwear industry at large,” said Michael Atmore, Fairchild Media Group chief brand officer and Footwear News editorial director. “The combination of TRE, the largest and most important trade show and event in running and outdoor, and FN, the global authority among top decision makers in footwear, will have an unprecedented impact on our industry.”
Atmore continued, “This is just the beginning of a collaboration that will offer exponentially more visibility for brands and profoundly deepen connections among peers and networks — I am excited at the possibilities.”
TRE has been making big moves of late, most recently announcing its upcoming shift to San Antonio, Texas, which will be the event’s new home starting in 2025.
Also, TRE has made waves throughout the industry for its growth, most notably in 2022 when it announced its entry into the outdoor market with the addition of Switchback. In 2025, TRE will host its first-ever stand-alone Switchback event, which will take place in Nashville from June 16-18.
The trade show’s turnout, too, has grown. Henderson confirmed with FN that retail registration for the 2024 event is trending 25 percent over last year. What’s more, the event director said the exhibit space for 2024 will be the show’s largest to date.
Still, Henderson and the TRE team are focused on remaining true to the communities it serves.
“The growth of TRE shows the strength of the run and outdoor industries,” Henderson said. “In addition to the growth, our team is very intentional about nurturing the community feel and connectivity of TRE that makes it so special.”
