Mango & Passion Fruit Smoothie
A sweet treat like this mango and passion fruit smoothie recipe is a great way to get more healthy produce into your diet.
This is definitely a smoothie I would classify as a dessert, or a treat. It is delicious, sweet and tropical, and if you're not a fan of smoothies, perhaps after trying this one you might get hooked.
If you've never prepared passion fruit yourself, you aren't alone. While most people have enjoyed the flavours of passion fruit in prepared meals and drinks, they might not have actually bought a fresh passion fruit themselves. When buying them, make sure you pick ones that are smooth-skinned and plump. If they are green, they are not ripe.
When you are ready to whip up this smoothie, cut the passion fruit in half and scoop out the seeds and inner flesh. The otter core is not edible, so you can compost or throw it away. It is the seeds and flesh you're going to need for the recipe below. Enjoy!
Ingredients
(Makes 2 servings)
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup plain, low-fat probiotic yogurt (or plant-based substitute)
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1/4 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
2 passion fruit
1 mango, frozen, cubed
additional ice (optional)
Directions
Into a high-powered blender, add the ingredients in the order they appear listed above.
Blend on high until the contents of the blender are smooth. The amount of time this takes will depend on the power of your blender.
Serve and enjoy.
