Inscribed by author on page opposite the half-title page. First Edition, second printing (January 1958). Blue cloth boards pictorially stamped in yellow. Light fading along top edge of boards. Illustrated endpapers. Light smudge at top of half-title page; light indentation on page 19 of a showing a hand-drawn bird (in the bottom corner); otherwise interior is clean; pages crisp. Dust jacket has some light wear at spine ends and corners; rear panel has a tear (also seen on spine) and some creasing at its bottom right corner; front flap is price clipped and has a child's name inscribed on it; in a clear archival sleeve. 56 pp. 11.25 x 8 inches. The story of Sid the pigeon and Madge, a dove, who share a nest tucked into the letter ''B'' of an electric sign atop a tall building in San Francisco. An endearing story portrayed amidst views of the city, the Bay, Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, and its cable cars. Rear panel of dust jacket lists five earlier books written and/or illustrated by Freeman: Chuggy and the Blue Caboose (1951), Pet of the Met (1953), Beady Bear (1954), Mop Top (1955), and Third Monkey (1956).
