The growth of the Internet in the world provides many opportunities to many people around the world in many different ways. When students are considered, the use of the Internet is mainly for social and entertainment purposes. However, it is very obvious that the Internet provides not only social connection and entertainment, but also academic and scientific information as well. Additionally, the Internet can be used as a tool to learn the latest news all around the world as well as getting any kind of information that serves different purposes such as learning more information about a hobby or health. Therefore, it can be said that the Internet is the source of spreading information quickly to a large audience and of going beyond the limitation of time and space. In the light of the above information, it is vitally important to encourage students to use this invaluable source to get any kind of information they need in their academic studies. For the reasons mentioned above, the aim of this study is look at the students' use of Internet in their academic studies. The participants are around 150 English Preparatory School students in Eastern Mediterranean University. These students have come from different countries in order to study at various departments in the university. The study is carried out in the Spring Semester of the Academic Year 2010-2011.

This study aims to enhance the usage of Instagram among educators and students. Currently, in the field of education, this application is primarily used as a joining material or a place to take pictures. The use of social media in the form of Instagram can aid in children’s learning by increasing their activity and creativity. Additionally, the virtual world of Instagram makes it easy for learning material to be repeated anywhere and anytime. In this study, data was collected from Instagram users using a survey method that included interviews. The results showed that users complain of high data usage and difficulties in using the application as a learning platform. Therefore, it can be concluded that Instagram is primarily used by the general audience as a joining material and mood booster. This led the researchers to take the initiative to conduct further research on the potential use of Instagram in education.

Introduction: Everyone nowadays needs access to the Internet for recreational and educational purposes. The goal of this study was to find out how undergraduate, postgraduate, and college faculty members use the Internet for various purposes. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted by preparing 18 questions in 240 participants with the help of a semi-structured, pretested questionnaire, 7 closed-ended and the rest multiple-choice questionnaire containing demographic information, information related to Internet addiction test questions, undergraduate, postgraduate, and faculty members of the college were selected and evaluated. Results and Observations: This study revealed that the Internet was used as a source of learning for all the groups. Mainly undergraduates use the Internet for entertainment and educational purposes both. Postgraduates, apart from these, also used the Internet for their research work. Staff members used it for all the reasons mentioned above and used email, learning exercises, and teaching purposes. Conclusion: The Internet not only provides a great source of entertainment and information, but it is also essential for the exchange of information, social communication, education, banking, business, shopping, administration, and proper evaluation of data sources. It is a constantly changing phenomenon that is getting more and more ingrained into our daily life.
Assessing Internet Activities and Its Derived Benefits for Learning Among Secondary School Students in Ilorin South, Kwara State, Nigeria
This study was carried out to investigate students' internet activities and its benefits on their learning outcomes in a secondary school in Ilorin South, Ilorin, Kwara state, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey; three research questions were raised to guide the study. There were 256 students for the study sample and the instrument utilized was researchers' designed questionnaire with 20 items. The statistical tools used for data analysis included frequency count, simple percentage and mean score. The findings showed that students utilized internet for playing games, watching movies and as a place that provides quality learning contents and best answers to their schoolwork among others. Furthermore, the findings indicated that students had many benefits from the internet such as, motivating them to go on adventure, found fun and able to solve many schoolwork/assignments. Based on the findings, the study recommends that students of secondary education should be encouraged to pay attention more to educative activities online than other activities, and get focused on their academics accordingly. The stakeholders in general and secondary school authority in particular should monitor well the activities students engage themselves with online. 1. Introduction Internet technology has come to stay at this 21 st century and everyone both old and young is encouraged to buy into the new adventure; this is also known as digital technology. The Internet technology permeates every aspect of the economy and society; and it is fast becoming the language of transaction in all human endeavours. For instance, access to inappropriate contents, harmful interactions with other peers or with adults, and exposure to aggressive marketing practices are all potential disadvantages on internet activities. Students' online activities may also put their computer systems at risk and disseminate their personal data without understanding the potential long-term privacy consequences. While many of these risks may be simply considered as the digital extension of existing offline threats to children, the measures that protect them against these risks are not always easy to effectively migrate to a virtual and global digital environment (OECD, 2012). INTERNET INFLUENCE ON STUDENT ACADEMICS
The internet has revolutionized the way we access information and communicate with one another. However, it has also profoundly impacted students and their academic performance. The research examines the possible impact of internet use on students' academic, personal, and social life. A quantitative method was used in this study. For collecting quantitative data, 150 samples were drawn purposively and interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire. Findings reveal that almost every student in the study area uses the internet to some degree. From the study, it is found that about 59.3% of respondents use the internet for educational purposes, 12.7% use the internet only for recreation, and 28% use the internet to browse social networking sites and entertainment. The study also indicates that most of the students, i.e., 60% of students, have internet usage for more than 4 hours a day. A considerable proportion of the respondents said that the internet could positively enhance their academic performance and improve their quality of life. The internet helps students to prepare for exams and aids in research. It provides information and helps easily share and communicate it with others. Overall, the internet is vital in improving students' academic performance and quality of life.

Social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and many more social media apps is cliché in this generation especially to students. We usually find them using their cellphones or gadgets when they arrived home or even at school when they’re doing nothing or when they’re bored. They find social media as their leisure when they got nothing to do.
In today’s world of connected learning, the impact of social media on education is becoming a driving factor. The world is getting smaller, and through the use of technology such as social media, the way we deliver instruction is changing. The technology referred to here really transpires just social media technologies such as Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat.
